Psychosis is like a secret club, and once you're in, you are in for life. No one really talks about it, but it's not difficult to recognize other members. A friendly nod will do.

You're all probably in the same boat as me, waiting like a pilgrim for a mailed check or debit card. Good news though: the IRS stimulus tracker just updated, mine now has a mailing date (hopefully for you all too)

I received mine on the 17th, not trying to be a a@@ here but why do some of you continue to do it the old fashioned way and not direct deposit your tax returns?

I won't be receiving a stimulus this round, which to me is probably a good thing as last year's 1800$ knocked me into a higher tax bracket and resulted in me having to pay in more when I filed my taxes.

On my mind right now is whether I should plan on transferring my vehicle registration when I get settled in KY. I know they say you're supposed to within 30 days but how would they know other wise, especially seeing how I still have a year left on it up here in NY I think it'll be a waste of money to do so plus I'd hate to transfer it only to transfer it back in 2022-23 as we don't know right now if what we'll be doing next year. I'll be visiting my family & friends up here frequently so it won't be too much trouble to have it reinspected this summer when the time comes. I'd likely have to use a trusted relative's mailing address but that won't be a problem

I got the $600 stimulus the very first day. This one is taking a little longer. I don't know how they decide on when they send payments out. Some people just have to wait longer than others.

wondering if I can get the job to work out and when is a good time to go to KY. I won't see anybody this trip since the main ones my aunties are older and not all my cousins have it either. I just want the rest of my Criterions and whatever else I put in the car.

Last year would have been great to have gone but that year went to hell quickly.

Those payments are not taxable income and have no bearing on how much you will pay if you owe taxes or if you receive a refund. It will not affect your income tax bracket either.

How did your situation happen?

If you have to pay taxes on a stimulus cheque it's not stimulating much.

I e-file. The IRS just automatically sends the stimulus deposits to the last known bank account that received an IRS refund via ACH within the past 2 years.

The IRS even sent out deposits directly to the tax software providers instead of banks because the IRS was too stupid to see that they were sending stimulus to thousands of customers at the same tax software provider (it made the news).

Another quirk of the stimulus deposits is if you were either making payments quarterly or at filing through a third-party processor, or if you fell into the situation of not owing or not making payments, then you pretty much have to wait on a mailed check or debit card. I hate the debit card, I had to setup a new account and ACH the funds to my checking account.

On my mind ... first day of Spring (cool), and Spring Break in Miami (scary).

Well maybe it wasn't the stimulus exactly but the interest i accrued on it for not spending it and letting it sit in my savings.

OT: I don't seem to be making a dent on this apartment. One truckload of boxes and two truckloads of donations and this place is still full of crap. Only a week and a half before moving. My parents have offered to store stuff for me so I don't have to overwhelm myself trying to get everything moved doen right away.

I can sympathize. having dealt with my moms hoarding when she passed away. had to put some of stuff in a storage unit since I went back to school for the final time and moved with car. It was hell but I got through it.

now just need to figure out how to get the rest of it here.

In some cases it's Government phobia. A lot of my colleagues at work also shun direct deposit even though it's absolutely the best way to get paid. I ask them why and almost everyone replies with "I don't want the government knowing about my money". All I can do is grin and then smirk.

Good call. There is nothing you or anyone can say which will change their minds when someone says something like that. It'll just frustrate you.
