I couldn't stand watching a movie with those subtitles on for the whole thing. Obviously, watching a foreign-language movie with subtitles is one thing, but watching an English-language movie with English-language subtitles? That would drive me crazy, especially since I've noticed that sometimes the subtitles shorten or otherwise slightly alter the lines. Hearing one thing while trying to read something that's slightly different would be annoying.

Good point. I hadn't even considered that, but it is something I've noticed. An omission of words here, a substitution of a word over there....it makes a big difference. I've seen some subtitles where they shortcut so badly as to change the entire context of the line. If you are deaf, you would be missing the original intent/impact. If you're listening and reading, as you mentioned, it's just annoying and distracting all-around.

I have yet to encounter any film where the sound mix is so inherently bad that I can't make out the majority of the dialogue. I don't think it's a sin to miss dialogue here and there, btw. I mean, not every word should be expected to be so readily accessible...that's indicative of life and the performances captured on film. If there's an occasional line that I do miss, and if it bothers me so, I can go always back afterwards and check it on the subtitles. I just haven't had any film to where I found it worth it to have subtitles on for the first viewing for a language I'm already versed in.

If someone, hearing-enabled, still feels the need for subtitles though, then more power to them. I just feel like some of those people do not understand what they're trading off in the process, especially when you have subtitles preceding the performances, lessening the impact and spoiling key moments.

Is there a way to enter doubles in your collection on here? Like if I have two of the same exact release, cause I'm a psycho, can I enter that somehow?

I need to watch a horror movie since it’s October. I’ve been slacking off because Dark Souls 2 has consumed my life.

4 more days. I don't want to take apart my table to get in the car but I need to. I have no choice but to do various things to get it all in one last trip.

Wondering why it took me so long to put LED bulbs on the fan in my room. I always avoided turning that light on because it would make my room get hot. Now, I can have the room fully lit, and it stays cool in here. I'm happy.

Also, don't forget about the utility savings. A 1500 lumen, 100 watt equivalent LED bulb is about 15 watts. So that means about seven of those bulbs would equal the electricity usage of a 100 watt incandescent bulb. I don't know about you but I think seven 100 watt bulbs in a bedroom is freakin' bright!

I have 16 books in my cart at Target and I'd like to get them all during their B2G1F sale but I gots to save some money so I will have to narrow the list down. Also got some movies in the cart as well.

Also thinking about women. Movies, books and women

Almost there. leave on third day which still seems far away but it would be good to get this over with and move on and stop paying rental fees.

Yeah. I mean, it looks bright in here to me, but that's only because I haven't had this light on very much (until now). I have to get used to it. The LED bulbs I got were 40watt equivalents (5.5 watts actually used), 450 lumens. So far, I'm enjoying them.

Figuring out my dual-monitor setup. I have an older HP All-in-One desktop with a 24" screen, and I bought a 22" EliteDisplay monitor with the intention of placing it vertically to the left of my desktop. I really don't like this orientation for monitors, but the new monitor is quite nice (even though it's technically smaller than my desktop), so I just placed an order for another one.

These monitors aren't sold on HP's site anymore, so I'm getting them from a company on Amazon Marketplace. I guess I'll run the dual 22s horizontally, despite it taking up quite a bit of space on my desktop. I'll still have a little bit of wiggle room, so I guess it's ok. I'll keep the second monitor I just ordered aside for a bit until I can upgrade to the HP EliteDesk Mini tower I've been wanting.

Hopefully my setup will look a lot better once it's all done, but I'm not sure how long it'll be before I get the mini tower. At least I have the matching monitors out of the way, so my OCD can rest.

As I vacate the storage unit (I fully believe I can get everything or give away stuff to make this a last trip) I wonder if I should have the door locked or just keep the lock with me. It will be empty and the security code should be fine until I talk to them long distance on Monday about ending the lease.

Leave it unlocked. Let them know though. Usually they add a charge if they have to break the lock.

I am going to switch each and every movie to a Thin Case!
The only ones that won't be are the 3 or more disk sets... Movies and bonus features.
All box sets will be emptied and then displayed or sold.
1: it'll save me room
2: Hunger Games Catching Fire caused this. the glue/cardboard page came loose and got on the disk.
3: all cases will be sold off, and this includes steelbooks.

Taking my first attempt at the Series 7 exam tmrw. Really nervous! I need a 72% to pass. My employer has been paying me to study and get prepped up. If I don't pass the exam within 2 attempts I lose my job. Lots of pressure.
