Subway isn't good enough to pay full price, Jersey Mike's is. That homemade chicken pad thai is definitely going to hit the spot later before today's 4-8 shift. We get paid at Nezzy Care on the 26th(pretty sure that's payday for CK as well) so I'm about to finish up my time sheets for my first week and go turn them in.

Spinach is going bad and my niece ate all the enchilada sauce so I'll swing by Lowe's market on the way back and get more of both before I fix pad thai. All this food prep is definitely going to take my cooking skills up from pretty bad to just below average, most likely.

[Show spoiler]So...things went good until I was pulled over by a dramatic and condescending NJ State Trooper on the way home. He was a young dude...probably 23 and fresh out of the academy.

What did I do? Well...he got me for "improper passing" but when you break it down it's rather laughable and ridiculous.

On the way back traffic was backed up in a rural area. Just a basic two-lane road. I could not see what was going on as it was backed up over a hill. So I sat in traffic for a few mins. My GPS was like "hey...we found a faster route" and I looked at it but it appeared to be a strange and long detour around a lake, so I ignored it. It wanted me to take the next right, but I did not see the road yet. We moved up a bit more and suddenly cars start passing me on the right including a riced out Purple Honda Civic with a huge wing. I saw the road and thought..."ah hell..might as well" and went into the shoulder (which was wide as the main road) to make the turn. The road was not far away at all and I cannot recall how long it was but all I can say was it was not excessive at all. This all happened in less than a minute. I make the turn and next thing I know a cop is in back of me lighting me up. I thought he was going to the accident.

Not knowing I did anything wrong, he asked me why I took the shoulder and I told him the GPS re-routed me that way and other cars were going too. I mentioned the purple Civic and how it was like 25 feet and he said "NO IT WASN'T!" So I just stopped talking after that as this guy was on a power trip. He acted as though it was a freaking mile.

I gave him my registration and license. I feel like he went after me because I was out of state. The Civic had NJ plates and actually turned into a business parking lot before me, so the Trooper could have easily pulled both of us over. Ironically the Civic passed me as I was pulled over.

So he came back and basically threw the ticket at me. He did not go over it or wish me a good day. This dude was so unprofessional. I honestly had no idea if I was free to go as he went back to his vehicle, so I just sat there. I was tempted to get out of the car and be like "so are we done..can I go now?' Before I could, he then drove off like a bat out of hell back towards the traffic. I'm guessing to go after other people doing the same thing.

He wrote me a ticket for $86 which doesn't seem like much at all. It comes with 4 points but because it happened out of State, they will not transfer onto my license as my State really only cares about DUI offenses and vehicular homicide cases.

It's also worth mentioning that speeding in NJ by exceeding 15-29 MPH over the posted limit is a 4-point offense. Only I wasn't speeding. I was making a right turn lol. The cop also did not take into account that my record is clean. I've never even gotten a speeding ticket or been in a freaking accident.

Makes no sense that they are equivalent offenses (based on the points system) considering how dangerous speeding can be. I was going a few feet to make a turn and playing follow the leader.

In the end, I don't know why he didn't just issue me a warning given the circumstances. Out of state factor comes into play + the fact that he went after no one else including the big purple Barney car. For what it's worth, I doubt many cops access your driving record but usually they can tell if it's been your first, second offense, etc.

So I thought about pleading not guilty and going to court, but is it really worth it for $86? The whole "it gets thrown out if the cop doesn't show" won't work as the municipal court building is right across the street from the station. It's also his word against mine. I wish I recorded the interaction. I should probably invest in a dash cam as well.

Plus I did not like this guy at all and do not wish to see him ever again. He was so high on his power that he would probably pull someone over for going 57 in a 55. Had the fine been more and I would be getting points then yeah..maybe it would be worth it to go to court. The funny thing is I've been receiving letters from lawyers willing to represent me! Probably received half a dozen so far. So pay a lawyer $500 for a $86 fine? NJ is so weird.

Thoughts?

Thanks for reading. Drive safe out there!

Yup the pad thai was better than I expected, quality somewhere between frozen microwave dinner and restaurant quality. I think I could get used to making chicken dishes once a week, that was pretty good, like that homemade chicken pot pie I made awhile back. Feeling those chicken tacos/fajitas hybrids next week, imagine my father and niece will enjoy that. Chicken pizza the week after that works, too.

Wouldn't be against a short CK shift Saturday or Sunday, we'll see if it happens.

Going to run Sunday's virtual half on those paths by my sister's old house, hopefully it'll be a decent pace.

If they're from a restaurant, they're about as "healthy" as traditional fries. Deep frying in the prep is what makes them a nutritional disaster.

My first week at Nezzy Care definitely had its ups and downs. First time I've ever started at a DDW company and not shadowed other employees first, kinda odd.

I’m working out the kinks in a plan to travel to check out a new guitar. It’s located in mid-Pennsylvania, and that’s about eight hours away from me. I normally don’t travel more than 90 minutes away for guitars, but I have before. If this one is selected, it’ll be the most expensive one I have bought since the early 1990’s. But this is a permanent keeper, potentially an investment, and quite possibly an heirloom. And of course, until then, I will play the crap out of it.

Just at Habit Burger chillin' after work and thinking about the good music they play. Last song was These Hard Times by Matchbox Twenty and now they're playing Sheryl Crow's cover of The First Cut Is The Deepest.

I've been checking the road conditions on Highway 108 which runs up through the mountains and I see that they've cleared more snow and opened another 6 miles or so of the highway. I'm hoping it will be open by early June if not in May. Can't wait to get back up to the mountains

Thinking of driving to El Paso tomorrow after my fake 13.1 mile run to see a couple of movies and maybe get some Jersey Mike's. We'll see, I didn't work today so I may be more willing to pick up a spontaneous shift instead.

Watching a Blue Planet on and off when I hear Sir David Attenborough utter, "curds of sp3rm line the shore." Wut? I could live a million years on this rock and never would have thought I'd hear that. Yet here we are.

Bro…no. All that sand. Have you watched Dune and/or seen the infamous popcorn bucket?

You do not want sand all up in there…even if you’re wearing a Stillsuit.

Umm, well I have seen the new Dune parts 1 and 2. I did have sex on the beach once in Pensacola. Don't remember much about it and don't think we finished as I think a car pulled up to one of the houses nearby on the beach. We weren't caught but don't think we continued.

Probably should've gotten off my butt and gone to El Paso today to see Dune since it's left local theates. Imagine it's nearing the end of its theatrical run since May films are about to come out. Oh well, maybe I can still go Thursday-Sunday somehow.

Seem to be nearing the end of Persona 3 Portable, means a lot more grinding coming.

Tuesdays at the new job should be fun since it seems the focus of Tuesday Nezzy Care shifts should be going to the movies. Even bad movies at least make decent time killers, as long as I'm not forced to see the bad ones more than once.

More Mandt training from 9-1/2 and then an 8 mile run. My 4-8 shift tonight was canceled by the client's mother so we'll see if I can't pick up a CK evening shift that doesn't interfere with my 8 mile run.
