Trying to decide where I want to watch LOTR when it comes back to theaters in June. Would you believe I didn’t seem them back when they first came out?

At this moment, it’s only a 3-day event which is rather limiting but you have to purchase each day/film individually. They should have done it all week or did a marathon option. Tickets are going fast.

Cinemark is cheaper & closer. AMC is further away plus tolls in Jersey but nicer overall + the unlimited refills and coke freestyle machine. I do not have a loyalty membership with either but maybe worth getting?

Decisions decisions. Probably better to stay local.

Just got back from watching the re-release of The Phantom Menace. It's not the best Star Wars film but was still nice to see it in the theater again. It's been over 20 years since my last viewing and I noticed a lot of bad acting this time around. I expect it from young Skywalker but his mother was terrible. Portman was cringworthy with a lot of her dialog as well. Jar Jar Binks is still the worst. The 25th anniversary poster has a lot of similarities to the original but I prefer it.

Glad you were able to see it again. I assume Attack of the Clones will come in 3 years. Not that I really want to see it lol. Like you said, nice to experience these again on the big screen for the nostalgia factor. I remember all the merchandise. The Taco Bell cup toppers and the Pepsi cans.

TPM is filled mostly with cons but a lot of people are happy to see it back in theaters.

I'm one of the biggest SW fans I know(probably the biggest) and it's hard for me to motivate myself to see the old ones on the big screen. I saw the OT countless times as a child and teenager and the PT is fun on the big screen but more fun at home where I can control everything.

How much are the tolls in Jersey? And how far away is it? I would go with Jersey unless the cost was quite a bit higher than what you would spend locally.

I would only do it if I could somehow make it all work with AMC A-List, haven't been using mine much lately. Here comes the summer slate of films so I imagine I'll be using it a lot soon.

Also a client has been asking to go to El Paso, during the summer I'd be willing to buy him a ticket to go to an early El Paso movie during the 9-3 shift as long as he doesn't have anything else more important to do.

$1.50

It takes a good 90 mins or so to get there.

This has been a great year so far for re-releases. I've already seen about a dozen including:

The Matrix
Alien
The Shawshank Redemption
The Green Mile

My least favorite was the 50th anniversary of Chinatown. The film was well made but did nothing for me (it was my first time seeing it).

Hmmmmmm, for LOTR, I'd go with the nice theater since the films are epic. I don't think I've ever seen a film that was re-released in theaters but I would definitely consider the LOTR films. I actually watched Titanic for only the second time just a month ago or so. The only other time I had seen it was when I was in the Marine Corp when it first came out. I was briefly stationed in SoCal and saw it down there. I didn't know who Bernard Hill was at the time but he was fantastic in the LOTR films and he's also in Valkyrie which is one of my favorite films.

Where is Valkyrie on 4K?!

Yeah you make a good point but driving 3 days in a row to AMC…
However there is a Costco about a mile away.

Maybe I can split it up. I need to look into the Stub club and other loyalty programs.

I wish you hadn't mentioned Costco. I don't have a membership so I haven't been able to eat there since April 7th

lol I'm actually thinking about getting a membership just so I can continue to eat at the food court and
[Show spoiler]check out the hot Colombian girls doing Instacart

3 days in a row is a lot of driving so maybe go with one there and the other two at the local theater.

Yeah! I was thinking of catching Fellowship (my favorite) at AMC and the other two at Cinemark. At least that way I can do a Costco run.

Were you one of those punks taking advantage of the Costco outdoor food courts until they started carding people?

The Costco membership will pay for itself if you go there once a week for a hot dog or pizza. The $10 whole pie is also a sick deal as well. Some people go all out!

Not to mention those sick $5 rotisserie chickens people go crazy for.

Sam’s Club is cheaper and they often run membership promotions for $20 annually which is ridiculously good.
