My girlfriend got rear-ended while waiting for a woman to turn in front of her over 30 years ago. She was in a coma and in and our of rehab for years. She has has spinal and hip issues since and she will for the rest of her life. She cannot sit down in the conventional sense (too much pressure on her spine and hip, so she has to lay down or if we eat out, she stands at the bar and I stand with her)....I have to lift her up into my SUV when we go out, as she cannot even step up into the car and bend her spine in that manner. Also, she cannot drive and hasn't since the accident. When we do go out, she has to lay down on her one side in the back seat of my SUV, with a body pillow and the seat wells in front of the seats filled with pillows....because any sudden stops or bumps and she could roll off the seat and/or the bumps causes her pain. But my point is....she is the most optimistic and happy person I know. She is always grateful for everything and sees the glass half full.....it was one of the reasons I fell for her.

Might go and see a couple of new films at the cinema this year, Heart Eyes and Final Destination: Bloodlines (if I can get my thoughts past the idea of being in a packed screen room (don't like crowds and having people sitting too close to me (I know, sometimes it can't be helped if people end up sitting too close to you in a cinema screen room).

Anyone still running Windows 10? I primarily use my Mac, but I have a rather old (and still awesome) Alienware with a Blu-ray drive. They no longer offer optical drives. Does anyone these days?

I am unable to upgrade to 11 due to my processor not being supported.

Just found out the End of Life for 10 will be in October. No more security updates.

I am running Windoze 10 Pro AND you can still buy internal optical drives for a pc, but your pc case needs a 5.25" bay and many of the newer cases lack those. Alternatively, you can buy external optical drives that connect via USB to your pc.

I have an internal blu-ray burner in my pc.

Example:

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C2KKWYP2...v_ov_lig_dp_it

You can extend Windoze 10 updates for an additional year past that deadline if you pay Microshaft a fee.

Your TV is still under warranty, so you still have recourse to that. A warranty claim is a hassle as big as your TV, I know, but they should fix it. You could also contact the store that sold it to you for their advice; they might even offer to do an exchange.

When I built my own PC just a year ago, I made it a point to include the 5.25" bay

Heck many cases today dont even offer the option. I will say though, other then a random older disk with some archived files on it, i just dont use anything other than usb thumb drives today.

I've got sound coming from my speakers and sound system still. The only thing I cannot do is control my receiver with my TV remote. A bit of a bummer, but I'll live. I don't think it's totally busted or anything. If the sound goes out completely from my receiver/speakers to my tv, then I'll do something. Things are calm right now and I wish to keep it that way.

They still have options for laptops. As Vilya said, you can get external disc drives/burners for laptops. I have one, but I need to upgrade mine at some point. I like it better this way. When laptops had built in disc drives it made them too bulky.

Yeah, I don't use it often, but wanted the ability if ever needed. I purposely looked for a tower that would hold one.

I use it cause I like to have actual discs with menus and all for a lot of my 4K movies I've bought digitally. Ones that I cannot get on an actual disc to begin with. I use an external hard drive (have to as thumb drives will not do it for me), but I much prefer discs.

I need a new part time job, I'm being laid off from the part time gig I've had since before the pandemic and my hours at the warehouse I work for have been cut since my schedule is technically set to part-time they let me work more than 30hrs/wk, somehow I'm still keyed as "full time" on the books so I get to keep my employer benefits, but with the new administration we have in this country I've noticed my expenses rapidly rise more in the last 2 weeks then I have the last 4 years. Politics aside, I'm strongly considering going back to working full time during the week and picking up gig work on the weekends at least until my daughter graduates high school.
