Sold my second item on Mercari and starting to get a hold on the whole selling thing.

Only made a $9 profit on a blu-ray that goes for $18 used (sold it for $15 + free shipping that I paid for) but it's better than selling it to a pawn shop or my local used game store and getting $1-2 for it. Plus I clear up a bit of shelf space.

Went out to breakfast after my kids soccer game this morning. Perkins (not my choice). Kid orders pancakes but only eats one. Walking back to the car I say “how come you didn’t eat much? Perkins makes good pancakes.” “Not as good as yours, dad.” You just got yourself an extra Christmas gift.😁

My day started out a little crappy. After a week of waiting, the futon I ordered finally arrives, and it's too small for my room. Looked more like something you'd find in a kid's room. So, now I have to mail this giant box back this week for a refund.

On a brighter note, I went out to Big Lots and found a loveseat that was perfect. My parent's borrowed a friend's truck and we went back and got it. Getting it up upstairs in the house was a bit tricky, but now I have a super comfy seat to watch movies on. I really like this thing. My room is more of an office/media room now. I'll be sleeping on a roll-out mattress that I can hide away in the closet when not in use.

[Show spoiler]

Next project: working with my dad to replace that media stand with a custom built stand that spans the wall (width wise) and stands a few feet taller. You know, so I can buy more blu-rays. It's hard to see in the photo, but there's about a foot of space between the loveseat and the media tower. Just enough to get in there retrieve movies or organize.

Went to my interview at Walmart this morning. Hired! Still have to go through the usual background check (although that's never anything I have to worry about), then do orientation, but in about 1-2 weeks I'll be able to officially start. This interview was so casual and stress-free. Little talk of work background and more of just a laid back "getting to know you" kind of thing. Never felt nervous at all like in previous interviews. I'll primarily be picking items for online orders and such, but will have other stuff to do as well. Best part is my brother works there already in the same department, so it'd be cool if our boss could put us on the same shifts so we could save gas and mileage by going to work together.

in 2 weeks I'll go to my storage unit maybe for the last time. I am anxious, nervous and everything in between it seems. I will be glad once I have all my stuff but won't know for sure If I can get everything in one trip but at least its closer to finalize moving here.

I decided to liquidate everything in mine back in NY back in June, I figured I went 3months without missing any of it might as well ditch it. Still got a crap load of stuff in this seemingly tiny apartment that I'd like to get rid of. My goal is to own only what will fit in my crew cab w/5.5ft bed F150 here on out. Definitely will make my next move easier, wherever/whenever that may be.

I've been able to rediscover some stuff and have more enjoyment of them now than I ever had before. I have stuff I have sold and donated and still do just need to get them here in order to do that properly. Also one thing I have never been able to use is my Grandmother's table from the farm So with my own place I can finally fix that up and use but at the moment trying to figure out how to get in the car without measuring is nightmare inducing. I should have measured it last trip.

Got a follow-up call from Walmart this afternoon to tell me I would be emailed the official job offer, which I got a minute or two later. Had to follow a link in it, review/confirm a few things, do a digital signature (signing my name with the mouse was interesting), and then submit some info for the background check. Now I just wait. By the end of the week I should know when my orientation is.

If your accommodations allow for it, do any of you also use your TVs as computer monitors? Any cons to it? Thanks.

Depending on what you want to do with it, there are no cons to it. Just keep in mind you'll need quite a bit of distance even for something as small as a 32" TV. You'll have to fiddle with your OS's display settings a little bit but that's about all there is to it these days. It's pretty much plug-and-play.

Only between/for TV shows or movies, which I play in Windows. For normal computer use, I prefer my monitors by far. For 4K at 65 inches all the way back here on my bed, there isn't a single scale setting I really like for regular computer use. The windows and web browser options/text are either too small or too big from back here. 2560x1440/1440x2560 at a desk is perfect.

I'm finally starting to get comfortable here in Kentucky, being born and raised in upstate New York, the midwest is a big change from what I'm used to. My fiancee is working up north so I only see her a couple hours on the weekends when I'm not working or sleeping, but we've been talking about buying a house here, it would be nice to get out of an apartment complex and actually have some land of my own to do whatever I want again. Plus my family all are moving out of NY and as soon as my daughter's feeling better, my Ex wants to move back out to Washington State, she also was born&raised in NY but fell in love with the state of Washington while stationed at Fort Lewis. Despite the higher taxes/COL, New York will always be my home regardless if my family still reside there.

That's how I feel about California. I was born/raised here, and despite it's high taxes, COL, and ridiculous politics, I don't see myself leaving. Everything I know and want is here. This is my home. Los Angeles is about 4.5hrs south of here (lots of film stuff, Universal Studios, Disneyland, etc.), the beach is about 1.5hrs west of here, and the mountains are about 1.5hrs east of here. It's a perfect location we're in (small town).

Having felt comfortable in 3 states being born in one moving back as an adult while in college and being raised in one and moving back after college. It takes me awhile for being comfortable then I don't want to leave and force to because of family problems like sickness and death though now it seems I am stuck here but if I move again I will, if not then I won't but it seems wise to see how things go since something always happens.

I feel the same way. I am definitely not enjoying the state the way that I should but I just love living here so much. My mom really wants me to come visit them back in Georgia since they moved there at the beginning of last year. But while I'm still relatively young and kind of like...I don't want to say life in the fast lane or flashy lifestyle (because I don't live one)...California just has a certain something.
Another thing regarding California is that we have so much beauty that I've actually thought how it might be difficult appreciating places in Europe when California has similar geography. I thought this before going to Ireland back in 2013. I wish I was going to Ireland after spending my whole life in dull, ugly Kansas (no offense to Kansas as I haven't actually been there)

And speaking of traveling, six years ago today, I was spending my first night in Berlin on the first of a 24 day vacation
