After going through a manic spell and not sleeping for three straight days I finally fell asleep last night and slept fifteen hours straight. I feel a lot better and more sane.

While I do not suffer from insomnia, I have a lot of restless nights due to stress and anxiety. Sleep deprivation sucks and pretty much puts me in a zombie-like state. I know how great a good night sleep can feel. Glad you were able to get in a good one!

Ngl, while I haven't truly followed WWE wrestling since my heydays of WM III, IV and V, if a buddy of mine ordered Wrestlemania this weekend, I'd for sure kick in some money to watch it. These recent (past two years of so) A&E WWE specials have really renewed my interest in the stuff that I've missed since back then.

I just helped my dad unload a bunch of potting soil and it is hot outside. It is only 87 degrees but feels much warmer. August is going to be miserable.

I’m having some issues with my anxiety levels lately. Tik Tok is constantly playing in my right ear (the gf watches it incessantly), and I mean constantly. I am trying to give up med-pot, as my dopamine receptors are just about nonexistent anymore. Anyyyyyywayyyyyyy… /shrug/

Sure would like to purchase a new truck (Ram or F150) but prices are just outrageous. I even read that about 15% of people who have purchased a new vehicle are paying over $1,000 a month in car payments. How much money do people need to make a year to afford what is essentially 2 mortgage payments?

I'm with you man. I'm normally a Ford truck guy (owned 2 F150s, lifted cause I'm that guy ), but I jumped on a Gen 2 Tundra way back when and still drive it. I was recently at the Toyota dealer with my son to help him get a car, and the sales rep (who I somewhat know) knowing that I drive a Gen 2 Tundra tried to talk me into a new one. I had no intention of getting one, but of course I at least took one for a test drive. Afterward, I told the dude there's no way I'm going to have a $1k payment, but he insisted on running numbers. So I entertained him, and yeah he came back with "how about $800 on a lease?!!". I was like, dude, my last car payment (the Tundra) was $350/mo. I happily jumped in my truck and drove off.

I still love my truck. No car payment. Why would I give up this thing?

7" lift and 35s. I did all the work, except for the gears. I don't touch gears. Gear oil... HE!! NO! I have too much of myself invested in this thing to agree to a $1k payment, and I recently got it "up to date" and added a new touch screen head unit with wireless Android Auto and backup camera.

Now you are just showing off! That is a great ride and you are right, you invested too much into it, but that is a sweet set of wheels. I merely want a truck for the functionality of one....too many times I needed a bed or 4 wheel drive, but no luck. I have absolutely no debt right now, no mortgage, no rent, no credit cards, no car payments....nothing (that is until the house is completed in June), so I really would love to get one. Instead, I have to ask my brother to help me move with his Ram 1500 (and a trailer, of course.)

I know car salesmen are just doing their job but sometimes they try to convince you to do something outrageous.

I purchased a Honda Civic back in 2012 at the dealer near me and I had a pretty okay experience so I took my friend there in 2017 to take a look at some cars. Making small talk I mentioned I bought my car there and the salesman, like yours, wanted to run some numbers and see if I wanted to trade in my car for the new model. My car was financed for 60 months and my monthly payment was around $405 so by that time it was already paid off and mine.

So the guy says he has a great deal and can put me in a brand new Civic if I trade in my car and the monthly payment would be about $390 a month for 60 months. He was going on about how it was cheaper than my previous car.

Then I asked him okay you want me to trade in my car so based on your calculations, I'm basically giving you my old car for nothing? How does that make sense? Then he tries to bullshit me about how my car payment would be more without it. Come on, man. The new car is the same MSRP as my old car. It makes me a little sad that people fall for this kind of stuff.

Of course I am! But it also helps justifying keeping it so that I don't go over to the dark side and contribute to a worsening economy. And I'd offer its services if I were closer to you! But I would insist on moving the Rockets.

It's terrible, even the used market has gotten ridiculous.

Oh, for sure. I'm not gonna get talked into putting money into something I don't want, especially when they take that kind of angle.

On that front, I always ask to see the invoice so that I know what I'm getting myself into (and have an angle of course), but they won't even do that anymore. I had one guy bring out a print-out of something that looked like he typed up on notepad and printed it out lol. No joke. I told him that I was going to go the restroom and use it for toilet paper while he looked for the real invoice. He insisted it was the real deal, but I walked out. And of course he was almost sniveling at my feet at that point.

The sales guys haven't changed, either. I was considering getting another Mustang GT a couple of years ago (miss my 95 GT 5.0 before they went modular 4.6L). As soon as I walked on the lot, a sales guy asked what I was there for, and I tell him a Mustang. He proceeds to take me to the SUVs, and says, "How about this brand new Explorer!" I nicely asked him to get the manager for me because I had some questions, which he did. And when the manager walked out, I said right in front of the sales rep to go get me someone else who isn't going to try to sell me something I don't want because I'm not going to work with this a$$hole.

I had to get my drivers license renewed today. They do appointments now. I got there and the lady was telling walk ins it was a 3-4 hour wait that they were way behind. My appointment was for 9:00 am. I got called at 9:00 am. I was in my car driving home by 9:15am. Holy crap. That was great.

The workers at the DMV in NY are just miserable. I remember when I was renewing/upgrading my license to an Enhanced license the guy doing my paperwork was trying to burn as few calories as possible to the point he was whispering to me. I had to lean in and ask him to repeat himself a few times.

That DMV office has since closed and I just hope he and every other miserable soul in there got canned.
