Is the estimated $4k tune up from the dealer? My friend who commutes to Manhattan daily put over 400k on his RX! They go a long way, if properly maintained.
I see the site is going down tomorrow for maintenance. |

Yeah, the dealerships's idea for a maintenance schedule is how long they can maintain reaching into your wallet (especially for things you can do yourself).
Left to them, they would even be replacing my wiper blades every 15,000 miles. ![]() Concerning the Lexus, don't the modern models all have timing chains? If so, there's really not much to "tune up" (kind of an antiquated terms these days, actually) other than replacing the spark plugs. If it was me, I would just get the tires at Walmart, change the spark plugs myself, and use an independent garage for anything that you don't feel comfortable handling. Going to a dealership for work outside of safety recalls and/or a factory warranty is like asking for a 75% mark-up over all other options. I do go to the dealer, mostly as I haven’t found a mechanic I trust where I live. The 4K includes tires, tune up and transmission flush.. and is actually looking closer to 3K. Getting a set of Pirelli Scorpions tomorrow for $810 at discount tire.

As Beast mentioned…a timing belt service is pricey, but you have a chain. Spark plugs would be pricey considering you’ve got to remove the intake manifold to access the plugs. They probably want to change the air & cabin filters which = easy cash grab by the dealer. Acura quoted me $125 for those filters. I can change both in under 10 mins. I would try to find a local mechanic but check online reviews. The dealer will get you good for basic routine maintenance at this point considering there is no 130k service interval. But yeah… Transmission flush Differential and transfer case fluid change Coolant Brake Engine oil Water pump? Maybe you’ll need some suspension or brake work. Definitely want to do a 4-wheel alignment after those new tires. |

When I was up in the mountains a few weeks ago, I decided that I needed a
Jeep ATV Trailer Kayak Seeing as how a kayak is the cheapest of those things, I may think about getting one someday. Apparently REI has classes you can take to learn how to kayak. Of course they cost money. So maybe I'll just stick to watching instructional videos on YouTube ![]() |

It’s better than that clear trash called ice and that white trash called snow.
At least you don’t have to scrape and shovel in the heat and humidity. You have to scrape ice and shovel snow. Those are the worst ways to abuse the human body. Not to mention, wintry weather of all kinds turns the nicest neighborhoods into the worst slums very quickly! ![]() |

I don't get nearly enough Vitamin D so I've been taking supplements. I think they're having the unintended effect of speeding up the digestive process, which makes me go to the bathroom more frequently, which means I get hungry more often. I've gotten hungry even soon after I've just eaten. Has this happened to anyone else?

With cases like this, you need to have a healthy, stable baseline to work from. Ask yourself some questions and be honest with your answers: Am I getting enough consistent sleep (7-8 hours) every night? Am I eating quality, healthy whole foods? Am I at my target weight? Am I staying active and exercising on a consistent schedule? Am I really deficient in vitamin D, or am I thinking I might be? How am I getting vitamin D? Is it through diet (best option) and/or the supplementation of a dedicated D3 vitamin (2nd best option), or sun exposure (worst option)*? Get your baseline set and then think about other factors which may be contributing to your perceived digestive/lack of satiety issues. For instance, have you switched up your diet recently? Is the supplement you're taking for vitamin D possibly affecting your bowel movements? * the sun exposure campaign for vitamin D is probably one of the most overrated ones. There's too much downside, health-wise, to needless additional sun exposure to consider it a good option. Most people, regardless of the climate and sunscreen adherence, get enough incidental sun exposure by just doing their basic everyday activities outside (walking to and from their car, getting the mail, walking from their car to their place of employment/merchant, etc. etc.). |

In British Kolumbia, Kanada, in the last 24 hours they recorded 40,000 lightning strikes.
That started 100 new forest fires; there are now 500 of them burning. That's just here where I live, where I planted over 2 million trees by hand. In Greece ... _____ * Extra: An expert's reviewer opinion on the Hollywood film 'Oppenheimer' |
