I can sleep, walk and just generally live life a LOT more comfortably in cool/cold weather than I can in stifling heat and oppressive humidity. When it's hot outside, you won't find me outside - I'll be hanging out indoors with my A/C cranked on High.

I rent, I don't own a home. If I owned a home, that home would have a garage and that's where my car would be so there would be nothing to dig out. I would probably also own a snowblower in case I did need to dig my car out. Smart people wouldn't attempt to drive their cars before, during or after a big snowstorm - they would take public transportation whenever possible or just stay indoors.

If people proactively shovel snow during a storm and not wait until after the 5 feet of snow falls, that would be less hazardous

Year after year summers are getting hotter and deadlier.
Remember the Paradise Camp Fire in California (2018) few years back; 85 deaths.
Last week, Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii; last count...111 deaths.

...Spain, Italy, Rome, Canada, British Columbia, Northwest Territories, Phoenix, Arizona, Nevada, California, Texas, Florida, New York, Europe, ...

* The Canadian province where I live, British Columbia:
619 persons died following an extreme heat event that occurred June 25–July 1, 2021.

It's not only people who are dying suffocating by the heat and fires, it's also the trees and the wildlife in the forest fires.

This climate thing sucks big time. Summers aren't fun anymore.
Water is evaporating, icebergs are melting, oceans are cooking, hurricanes are stronger, and parts of the world is under water while the rest is burning.
It's like the gods and goddesses of Olympus are in fury; just about to drop the bomb!

Winter storms are still more to substantially more costly, deadly and destructive than all of those things that you mentioned. I’ll take any of what you mentioned over winter storms any damn day!

With Lahaina, Maui, Hawaii last week ... that goes way up.
Actually last year and this year the summer heat globally is a real killer.

Fox News and Wunderground bullsh*t people all of the time. AccuWeather says that winter storms kill 600 people a year, 400 of them in blizzards.

AccuWeather and The Weather Channel also say that heatwaves kill 500 people a year, 400 of those in triple digit temperatures. Hurricanes kill 120 people a year while tornadoes kill 80.

Cold kills 250 people a year, 200 of them in below zero temperatures. Flooding kills 200 people a year, according to AccuWeather and The Weather Channel. Their source is the National Weather Service.

AccuWeather, the National Weather Service and The Weather Channel bullsh*t people a lot, too. But much less so than the creeps at Fox News and Wunderground. And AccuWeather, the National Weather Service and The Weather Channel are 100% correct here.

Here, here. Don't want to wish my life away, but that anticipation in the build-up to fall/autumn (and the season itself with the appearance of the fall colours and pumpkins etc.) I look forward to (summer is my least favourite season also).

Rain at times today with a humid/muggy feel and temperatures in the low to high 20s. Not too bad tonight.

The only thing I don't enjoy about the Fall/Winter are the shorter days. Last night, on my bus ride home I noticed how dark it was at 8 PM. But I very much look forward to the cool, crisp Fall air

Yes, it's been getting darker here around roughly 8.30 pm or earlier, with darker mornings creeping in. The shorter days can get you down until you get used to them (last winter I didn't get used to the shorter days).

Despite it being generally humid/muggy this week, have had some walks outside (it can help to clear your mind).

Want to get back into reading books (the physical media ones). Forgot the name of it, but I started reading a book a few weeks ago which I decided to get after I read that it has Twin Peaks vibes.

A bit annoyed that I found out way too late about the hardback/paperback version of the novelization of the original Halloween II (it's currently available where you'd read the book on a screen).

United Kingdom Music singles from the eighties (UK music programme)

Watching tonight's two random editions of a UK music programme which were repeated earlier, from the late-seventies and mid-eighties. One of my favourite songs on the eighties edition, The Way It Is by Bruce Hornsby & the Range.

Worst delivery ever. Did not even put it in our lobby. Just left it outside in a downtown area full of homeless. It was stolen.

It seems that you are right; FOX News Weather and all is unreliable.
Wunderground is a strange name somehow; doesn't sound really trustable.

Here, I found a 100% reliable source ...

Is the word 'Preordered" not considered a real word in the English dictionary? The word gets redlined every time I use it on my PC.

Try it with a hyphen.

Pre-ordered

It should work either way though.

Canada On my mind

Fires all over ...

Maui, Spain's Canary Islands, Northwest Territories, Kelowna, ...mass evacuations.

Kelowna

I lived there ^ just few miles away from 1975 to 1995.

It's the worst year for forest fires in my province. It's no fun, just ask people of Lahaina, Maui.

Lots is happening, not necessarily on my mind but certainly in the news.

Fires are on my mind, wildfires, all kind of fires. The planet needs to cool off, heads need to kool off.

Heard a song on the radio station I listen to earlier today that I hadn't heard in some time (one of my favourite covers), Dear Prudence by Siouxsie and the Banshees (my favourite cover is easily Jealous Guy by Roxy Music).

You seem very preoccupied with fire - do you live in a rural forested area? How familiar are you with your surroundings? Formulate a multi-faceted evac plan that includes alternate escape routes. Practice drills. Remember, don't waste time with personal items in an emergency - just worry about yourself and loved ones. And stop watching CNN for at least 5 minutes Take up reading or some other hobby. Being glued to 24 hour news isn't gong to help.
