Just taste test it, if it's not chewy it's good.

On my mind right now, my daughter's coming to stay with me for winter break in a few weeks. I'm hoping her mom doesn't change her mind out of spite since we're going back to court in a couple months. I'm trying once again to get full custody, I didn't want to go back to court but my Ex wants to give our daughter her new husband's last name so I'm going all in.

Good luck, a spiteful divorce is the worst. Out of curiosity, what is your daughters thought on the idea? My son and daughter live with my ex, but if my ex wanted to change their last name to her new husband's last name, I would definitely ask them about their feelings on the subject.

Not sure how long they boiled for but the mac & cheese ended up tasting delicious!

Good luck with the issue with your daughter. Hopefully there will be a positive outcome for everyone involved

Been out of work for five months now. Luckily, things really popped in January. Some promising irons in the fire!

Today is my one day off for the upcoming week. Our work week starts on Saturday. I came up to get my clam chowder (on bowl 2 with 1 more coming) and I'm thinking about what I'm going to do next. One of my very favorite things to do is go for scenic drives but I haven't done a lot of driving lately. I may head over to Highway 1 on the coast or maybe just take 280 up to San Francisco. It's still early at only 9:38am. I have to be to work at 3:30am I think but Sunday is an easy day; very easy to knock the short 4 hour or 4.5 hour shift out. So hopefully I do some exploring when I leave the restaurant and don't just head back to San Jose.

A former good friend has contacted me, but he burned the friendship bridge with me and my crowd over two decades ago. We have only seen each other/spoken once since 2002, and only then because we had been seated near each other (with our ladies) at an Alice Cooper concert. And then, I was just being polite. He deserted the “circle of friends” we belonged to when a couple of the friends ended up with some serious personal issues that he didn’t want to know about, accept, or deal with. So he ghosted everyone and then violated their privacy by telling tales around town. Flash forward to now, and this guy gives a mutual friend of ours his info and has the mutual friend give it to me. Once again, to be polite, I text him to see what’s happening. He calls me and gives me the story: he is now going through the exact same crisis that his ghosted friends needed his support with 22 years ago. I was sympathetic but I am still at a loss at his gall. I am thinking about ghosting him as he did to all of our crowd 22 years ago. But, honestly? I would not do it out of spite, but because my current life and lifestyle doesn’t allow much room for anyone else right now. I have grandchildren and great grandchildren that want to learn to play and read music, and I want to spoil them all. I also run a couple of small businesses that require lots of focus and a good chunk of time. And I have a gf and a house to take care of. The point is, I have moved on and I have gotten quite comfortable with this dude long gone from my crowd. I hate to be the jerk in the situation, but I think I’m ghosting the dude. This guy was a hanger-on for one of my bands and my 1990’s production company, and we all had a great time. But I have moved onward and upward. To make it even weirder, I am the only person in the group that he’s contacted. Why not someone else? I feel bad for the guy, but I am just not interested in being his friend.

I wonder if, when we die, everyone we've ever known since childhood who had passed before us will greet us when it's our turn, kind of like the final scene in Titanic. There's lots of people I truly miss

While reconnecting can be good, I feel you’re better off just doing your own thing. You give an inch..he could want a mile and you’ve got more important things to do. No point in making things more awkward. Enjoy your current situation which is comfortable with him gone and focus on your family and businesses.

I'd just be honest and tell him there's no room in your life for him.

I know most people mean well when they say it but, as a doorman/concierge, I wish people wouldn't ask me how my weekend was. So many people ask me and I've simply run out of ways to say "it was good" (even if it wasn't). I guess people just do it out of courtesy/respect but none of those folks stop to think, "Hey, that guy must be tired of rattling off the same responses day after day"

The weekend break is much needed as it usually recharges my batteries, preparing myself for the next week. Even though I'm apprehensive about the start of a new week (including catching up after the brief break), I feel more comfortable in the week than I am at the weekend.
