If you're using a blu ray recorder to copy stuff onto a blank blu ray disc then you normally have to finalize it on the same machine to play on other players. I use a dvd recorder and I have to finalize recordings on it to be able to play that disc in other, different players.

Obviously a moot point if you don't burn your own blu rays. What was on the disc?

It was a retail disc purchased at either Amazon or one of the smaller boutique indie stores - a German import of the original The Crow.

Then they're talking cobblers. The only other reason for the disc not to play would be incompatible region.

Apparently the disc is region B locked.

Unfortunately the reviews were quite accurate. This is a dud of a film and very underwhelming. Do not watch this expecting Gladiator. Not sure if Ridley will put out some sort of extended cut but I doubt it will help it.

My eyes have seen modifications you could only dream of

I think my pics from the car shows back in the day might have gotten tossed out so don't think I'll ever end up posting any here. I will share a random pic from the net of a car that I saw at Hot Import Daze in Irvine. There's a pretty good school down there called UCI (University California Irvine) and it used to be known as University of Compacts & Imports

Honda Accord with Skyline R34 headlight and taillight combo with a wide-body kit designed for a Supra fitted to HER car. I actually attended that show when I was home on leave from Japan. I had never seen her car before and then when I went back to Japan, I got my issue of Import Tuner and her car was on the cover which was sick.

Haha UCI was probably the spot back in the day. The R34 is a stunner. I’ve seen a lot of Supra’s on the road in my area. It was considered the holy grail for a long time. Guess all the people who grew up with the F&F movies can afford ‘em now! Although dropping 100k on a 30-year old car with high miles is a bit nutty, imo.
I do like the new GTR but it sucks it doesn’t come in a manual gearbox. Ferrari went the same route too so it is what it is.

Those new GTRs are really nice looking. I was stunned when I saw the price on them though.

We used to kick it at this rest stop called Sagatas which I think was in between Iwakuni and Hiroshima and we would see a lot of nice cars there. I asked one of the American guys I was with what you had to pull up in to be considered a baller and they suggested an NSX. While it wasn't uncommon to see RX7s and Supras or even Silvias and Skylines, I don't recall seeing an NSX over there. I've seen both the Supra and the RX7 from the first F&F film. Here's another RX7 that used to belong to this SoCal club called Hybrid. Saw this car a few times.
[Show spoiler]

And I think the girl with the Accord and the guy that owned this Prelude were dating at the time. Pretty good couple I'd say. I was very into the show scene and the conversions and the pretty crazy stuff so we might have wildly different tastes.
[Show spoiler]

I'll post one more pic. I don't know for sure if this is the exact...it is. According to the article in IT, this Honda Accord was said to be wider than a Ford Excursion

We have only seen each other/spoken once since 2002, and only then because we had been seated near each other (with our ladies) at an Alice Cooper concert. And then, I was just being polite. He deserted the “circle of friends” we belonged to when a couple of the friends ended up with some serious personal issues that he didn’t want to know about, accept, or deal with. So he ghosted everyone and then violated their privacy by telling tales around town. Flash forward to now, and this guy gives a mutual friend of ours his info and has the mutual friend give it to me. Once again, to be polite, I text him to see what’s happening. He calls me and gives me the story: he is now going through the exact same crisis that his ghosted friends needed his support with 22 years ago. I was sympathetic but I am still at a loss at his gall. I am thinking about ghosting him as he did to all of our crowd 22 years ago. But, honestly? I would not do it out of spite, but because my current life and lifestyle doesn’t allow much room for anyone else right now. I have grandchildren and great grandchildren that want to learn to play and read music, and I want to spoil them all. I also run a couple of small businesses that require lots of focus and a good chunk of time. And I have a gf and a house to take care of. The point is, I have moved on and I have gotten quite comfortable with this dude long gone from my crowd. I hate to be the jerk in the situation, but I think I’m ghosting the dude. This guy was a hanger-on for one of my bands and my 1990’s production company, and we all had a great time. But I have moved onward and upward. To make it even weirder, I am the only person in the group that he’s contacted. Why not someone else? I feel bad for the guy, but I am just not interested in being his friend.
Holy deja vu, Batman! It’s happened again, with a different person this time.

An old drinking buddy from the 1980’s tried to contact me by phone, but got my service and left a message. I haven’t had a drop in years; it causes me too many physical problems to bother with it. I have no interest in rekindling this friendship, not at all. We had a terrible falling out at the close of the 80’s, and haven’t seen or heard from him since then. There’s reasons why I would never want to talk to this dude again.

But it’s not over. Keep reading…

I lead a fairly quiet and reclusive lifestyle, though I do go out in public often. But I treasure my privacy, and my family’s privacy. I was never quite famous, but I have definitely been infamous. I am now 60, and no longer live the rock and roll lifestyle, at least not as much. My very elderly mother gets a phone call to her landline, which is in the phonebook. Or Google. Or wherever. The guy calls my mother and gives her a story about “how great our friendship was, and should still be, if only you could give me his phone number!” Which she did. Which he called immediately. I got the recorded message, and I guess he knew what I would think about the contact, especially the method of obtaining my phone number. I blocked the number, deleted the message, and had a gentle chat with my Mom and Dad about callers and visitors. Always happily take all of their information politely, but never ever give out any information to anyone.

That’s how I have lived since my first really good band… but definitely not the last one.

In one of the oddly somewhat true sayings, yet potentially quite racist sayings, UCI is sometimes known as the University of Chinese Immigrants.

It's a potentially racist saying/acronym because not all Chinese students at UCI (7,000 last year) are immigrants. A decent percentage are Chinese-Americans who are 2nd generation (or longer) US citizens who speak better English than long-time US citizens of any race.

Virtual interview tomorrow with a Cedar Rapids recruiter and then an in-person interview at 2 with LCDF. Should be interesting, I know the recruiter at LCDF knows me from my 3 years there back in 2015-2018.

Have a final Wednesday for a class and the truth is I have no chance of passing it at all. I've tried learning this subnetting bullshit over and over again and ended in failure. I'm so god damn sick of struggling with everything shitty health, shitty brain, learning disorders, depression, anxiety disorders. It never gets any better either in fact everything keeps getting worse and people wonder why I'm constantly pissed. When I went to College the first time I got two certificates but dropped out, the second I got a useless general studies degree and all three are worth less than toilet paper. The third time I again dropped out and this is the fourth and the same cycle is repeating itself I've worked harder and still don't get it.

Well it looks like my summer plans are going to be a bust. My kid doesn't want to spend her summer vacation with me, she's getting older so I guess I should've saw this coming. I have the whole month of July scheduled off nonetheless so I think I'm going to plan a cross country road trip. My brother will be moving to Colorado at some point this summer, so I guess I could help him with the move, I've never been to Colorado before it's one of the few states I've never been to.

What I expected sounds like it may come to pass, while I'm in this state of flux, I will probably have to choose between the Life Skills Coach position in Cedar Rapids and the LCDF case worker position I'm interviewing for this afternoon. Honestly, if LCDF offers me the job I'll probably keep that one and turn down the Cedar Rapids job. My resume has a gaping hole where case worker experience is concerned and working at LCDF till I move in August or later could fill that. Of course this could all be rendered moot if people put in an offer on the LC house sooner than I expect.

I went there for a short visit back in 2003 I think. I visited this girl who was going to school in Durango. Colorado is definitely near the top of my domestic travel list. Would love to explore the Rockies.
Where is your brother moving from?

I have an appointment to get my taxes done at 2:30pm so I've got a few hours to kill. I'm at Denny's right now and have my laptop with me but I forgot the mouse. I'm not a big fan of the touchpad but it doesn't work anyway so I can't use it. Luckily my Lenovo is touchscreen so I'm not totally stuck. Thinking about picking up a cheap mouse at Best Buy but I think I'll just save my money. Including the mouse I forgot, I have three at home so don't really need a fourth one.
