Went to see Dune 2 with a prepaid ticket and had to go to the concession stand to retrieve it. The actual box office was closed down. That's not a good sign. Theaters are getting so few patrons nowadays - I don't think they'll be sustainable much longer. I blame Hollywood and their lack of "event" films. Aside from Dune 2, there was not a single film playing at that multiplex that I've ever heard of. Dune was good, BTW, but I did find myself looking at my watch a few times.

Starting to think about what movie I'll watch tonight. I could go The Patriot as it's been several years since I've seen it. It's been even longer since I've seen Dances With Wolves but I think it's like 4 hours and even if I didn't have to wake up early, that could be tough to make it through one viewing. I actually might not have seen the film since I saw it in the theater with my mom back when it was first released.
Also thinking about making a big payment on my credit card. The payment isn't due until April 9th but I really want to get that balance knocked down. I acted a fool back in 2022 when I first got it. The limit was $4,700 and while I don't think I ever maxed it out, I came within less than $20 at the beginning ![]() ![]() |

![]() Jason Isaacs' performance in that film is incredible I think. But now I'm wondering if I might go with Titanic instead. I can't remember if I've seen bits and pieces here or there but I'm pretty sure the only time I've seen the whole thing was when it was released in the theater back in 1998. I'm pretty sure I was down in SoCal having reported to MCT (Marine Combat Training). Normally you would do 17 days at Camp Pendleton and wouldn't have time for movies but I reported with a cast on my hand. For that reason, I had a temp job doing who knows what. So yeah, I think we might have snuck into the theater to see it. Anyway, it's been a really long time since I've seen Titanic but I happened to pick up a cheap copy of the Blu Ray at Walmart a month and a half ago or so. And you mentioned having a TLX loaner last week and that reminds me of a pretty slick one that I saw a couple weeks ago. It was Tiger Eye Pearl TypeS and it looked muy bien ![]() I didn't get a great pic since it was in a parking space with cars on both sides so I'll just post these two cars for now. ![]() ![]() |

Oh and I would have liked to have gotten a picture of this Charger (I think that's what it was) that I saw yesterday at Costco. Like I've said, I go there a lot!

Had the strangest conversation at the post office.
"Media mail, no insurance." "What's inside?" "Movies." "Movies aren't media mail." "DVDs." "Okay." I hope they don't decide to open the box later to make sure, because everything is snug inside with air bubbles and styrofoam and it's a nice collectable box set. |

I never thought about it until now, but...
So, magazines, technically, do not fall under media mail rates, because they (most likely) have advertising in said magazines. However, with that stipulation, what about dvds with trailers or third party commercials....or books with ads on the backpage for other publisher titles? What would be the difference? It's obvious that the USPS kinda hates media mail at this point. They will never bring it up as an option unless you inquire about it, and their self-service 24/7 kiosks do not offer the media rate option at all. I'm not campaigning for anything, just musing over my breakfast... |

I’ll have to remember that next time. It’s rare for them to ask me what’s inside the package aside from their spiel about flammable crap. A few times I’ve been asked if it “qualifies” for Media mail. Criterion and Hamilton Books ship media. When Hastings was still around they did as well.
The correct “ verbiage” being DVDs when questioned by a misinformed postal worker. Half of them prolly have no idea what a Blu-ray is. You can prolly really turn them on by saying educational DVDs as the website specifically mentions “education” but also magazines count..so I guess you can also ship Playboy mags via Media mail as they also fall under education..heh |

Being a massive leap from VHS is what put DVDs into the minds of everyone (and most of them had never heard of laser disc). Same with going from cassettes to CDs. DVD --> Blu-ray --> UHD not revolutionary. |
