It's just a bad idea and vibe, all the way around.

Yeah it's a cash grab, pure and simple.

Finally worked a 3-7 Saturday shift for my new employer, going to ask them Monday if they'll let me go in late on the 29th to help my parents load crap onto the moving truck.

Yeah hardly any buzz surrounding the release.

There will always be movie theaters. The studios just need to work on getting better movies out there and cut down their spending. The days of spending $200+ on movie budgets are over.

I've been going to the theaters in my area for around 24 times a year for the past five years, and just a little less than that for the previous ten years prior.

It's not that uncommon to have a screening all to yourself or with just a handful of people, especially if it's a matinee. There are so many screens and showings in your average multiplex (especially for a tentpole film like Apes), that it doesn't take long for the initial burst of attendance (from mostly evening showings) to quickly dissipate after a week or so.

The real exception to this is that, and this probably also applies to your comment, local schools being in session are a big factor with theater foot traffic (or lack thereof).

When the schools let out for graduation, even the matinees start getting filled a bit more.

TLDR: Theaters are rolling along as they always have: They aren't going anywhere.

I thought it was good but the WTF ending reminded me of Tim Burton's 2001 film. That's not a complaint as I did enjoy Burton's film but I think they try too hard with these twist endings. I'm not fond of endings where they leave you hanging. If the film flops there's no followup. Overall, I quite enjoyed this 4th Apes film and do hope to see another one. This one some folks may find dull but I didn't.

I think there's going to be a lot less, there's just too many and I can't imagine most of them are as profitable as they'd like to be.

Either Will Smith is in my neighborhood or some idiot has been driving around since yesterday playing Miami on repeat. I've heard it playing like 6 times now. So insanely random.

On the recent repeats from the mid-nineties of the old UK music programme, the song that was No.1 in the charts at the time (Spaceman by Babylon Zoo), I didn't like much the first time round. And now? I still don't. Have fast-forwarded through the song on each of the editions it's been on. On a more positive note, one of my favourite songs from the decade was on one of last Friday evening's two repeated editions (One of Us by Joan Osbourne).

I thought the girl was an excellent presenter. ...In particular @ the end, reclining.

I just had dinner and now I’m about to go and get my parking spot to sleep for the night. I’m hoping that I’m warm enough. Besides some warm clothes, I only brought one throw blanket that’s not terribly thick or heavy. I think I’ll be okay but I may want to sleep with my shoes on. I’ll be “camped” at about 8,500 feet.

I promised my kid I'd take her camping this week but that was before she decided to roll around in poison ivy last week (not literally but she's covered in the stuff). Maybe I'll take my BIL up on his offer to stay at his hunting cabin in the Ozarks, its about an 8hr drive from here. I guess in the end I'll see what her mom wants to do. They're leaving for NEPA at the end of the month (after Memorial Day) and this trip of theirs was unplanned so I couldn't schedule the time of work so time is limited.

Don't care where the TV is located. Anything smaller than 80" is NOT acceptable.
