As for the pass, it's that free lifetime pass for Veterans that I got last August.
I've never sent up a tent before either. How do you do that? And where is it sent to? On another note, I have to say all of you are completely nuts. Why would you or anyone drink coffee in the first place? And why would you or anyone else pay or buy anything from Starbucks in the second place? What a total rip-off. It's like those stores that sell Wine & Spirits (it's in the name of the stores too). It's alcohol and will get you drunk just the same as LIQOUR. Quit being so damn posh people. I will never understand the way some people's minds work.

Outside using my computer for a bit before breakfast and the store is playing some great country music. We had some Kenny Rogers and Gambler, Garth and Friends In Low Places and now a newer artist that I hadn't heard of. Currently playing is All Over The Road by Easton Corbin. Great voice. It wouldn't hurt to sample this album on iTunes and then maybe order the CD from Amazon.

I believe the Shenandoah NP was free the last time I was there (in 2021), the Great Smoky Mountains NP was free for the longest time but they've recently started charging for parking last year, it's only $5 but I don't know how well it's enforced, I bought a 2 day permit the last time I went down there but I had noticed many cars in the trail head parking lots didn't have a permit on their dash. $35 seems pretty steep but maybe not for the west coast lol I, too have the lifetime America is Beautiful pass which I got for free through the VA although I typically don't go to the big national parks.

I don't have an issue with charging admission into the national parks but it's the fees required for national forests that get me fired up. I used to do a lot of off-the-beaten path exploring in the forests, backpacking and all that, never any issue now they all seem to require use permits. Just like with fishing I know lots of people don't bother paying for a permit, but its a risk I'd rather not take, with my luck I'd be stopped by DNR and my gear will be confiscated and I'll be fined.

If you are a vet, you can get a free Lifetime Pass for all the national parks, forests, etc.....it includes yourself and others depending on the exact type of pass.

USA Western heat wave to break records, raise wildfire risks

It's coming in my neighborhood too, this weekend.

California, along with a broader slice of the West, is set to experience a dangerous, long duration and intense heat wave beginning Tuesday and likely lasting well into next week.
British Colombia, Kanada, won't be spared. I just cleaned my AC air filter.
On the islands of the BC west coast most people don't have AC.
In June and July 2021, 619 people died due to record-high temperatures in British Columbia.

Keep it cool the best you can. And watch out for fires; don't start anything hot near the dry bushes and forest floor. Stay underwater.

Looking forward to my first shift at the new job tomorrow!

Have an interview for a 15-25 hour job with Boys Club on Tuesday, maybe that will finally be the job that gets my foot into the door working with kids. That would get me 1 step closer to the case management position I've coveted since I graduated 3 years ago.

I still don't know what hawk tuah is and I imagine that's for the best.

Thinking about going to one of my nephew's baseball games tomorrow and also fitting in a 3 mile recovery run as well as finally making that trip to Sam's Club.

I was late to the party on that one as well. Amazing how you can go viral for the silliest things these days.

Moderately light traffic on the road, gorgeous sunny day, windows open, Whitesnake's Slide It In blasting on the Hair Nation and a recently finished Wendy's triple berry Frosty cup sitting in the cup holder. A quality Saturday afternoon.

I recently discovered a new store to shop at. It is……..Ross Dress for Less.

On a whim, I stopped by on the 4th of July. I saw lots of stuff and they were reasonably priced. I went back on Friday & Sunday. I plan on going back soon.

Has there been a recent push in the US to use the metric system and I somehow missed the news? I've had to keep my phone handy whenever I watch youtube on my TV so that I can figure out how tall a 6 meter wave is in feet (as an example). We've never used Kilometer or Celsius, yet it's now everywhere on yt. Are they teaching this system in schools in the US now too?

Considering the vast majority of the World uses the Metric System it would make sense for the U.S. to as well. Teaching kids in school would be a good start.

Nah, we're too accustomed to what we're using now. It'll just confuse the hell out of people.

I'm just sitting here wasting time thinking about how I really need to remove this MF highway from inside my brain. It doesn't do me any good and only makes things worse. I'm tired of sliding.

Weird. I always pegged you as much older. Like late 30's/early 40's.

No offense, but Ross is cheap crap. I'm on a fixed budget/income (or should be) and even I won't shop there. It's worse than Goodwill and that's saying something.
