Tomorrow I travel back to the hospital in St. Louis for my 43rd appointment of the year so far.

Yesterday I had 37, not a typo, appointments added to my schedule in addition to what was already on the books. I will readily break last year's record of 80 appointments.

It feels like I am working harder in my retirement than I ever did during my career.

How are you even able to afford the hospital bills? I got billed $1,850 for an ER visit in March for the Flu and all they did was give me one Ibuprofen. And that's WITH insurance! I have no intention of paying that.

My prescription medications cost (for 2025) alone as of the end of April was $342,293.53. One of my prescription pills costs $19,965.07 per month. I get a quarterly injection that costs $120,305.81 each. The rest of my prescription meds cost from $10 to $600 per month.

I am currently being treated by 15 doctors in 4 healthcare systems. My pacemaker surgery in April cost over $100,000 and that's not including my seven day hospital stay. I have been fighting my disease since 2021 and the costs of my healthcare is well into 7 figures. It will actually cross into 8 figures if I live long enough.

My insurance is a hybrid mix of both Medicare and Medicaid. The extreme costs of my treatments make me Medicaid eligible, but with a $995 monthly spend down, which is a Medicaid euphemism for insurance premium.

The cost of catastrophic healthcare is beyond insane.
