My last dentist before this one was WAY worse. I went in 20 years ago to have temporary crowns put in, but the novocaine wasn't working. After what might have been the fifth shot of that stuff, I said it was all good so they could finish and I could get outta there. When I left, I was in so much pain that I was going through a bottle of Excedrin Migraine every 3 days. The pain was so bad it was waking me up and I almost never wake up in the middle of the night for stuff like that. Everyone told me to go back to the dentist, so old stupid over here does. The dentist comes in and starts working on my teeth/mouth without putting anything in my mouth to numb it or whatever. I felt worse when I left there than when I came in there.

That's sometimes easier said than done. Cause no matter how many times you try some people just don't get the hint. It's bad. I know, as I had someone in my life like that. Was awful. People are going people. You either learn to live with it or put em in the wood chipper.

It's also not a bosses' job to make everything easy for their employees. If the boss wants everyone to work at the office, that's their right. Just because things have become convenient and easy to be able to work from doesn't mean we are entitled to it. It's a luxury.

It's easier said than done. I'm the kind of person that wants to give each other person who approaches me for a chat my undivided attention because it's just rude to blow people off. I feel bad doing it. Sometimes I have to do it, though, when I'm busy at work, but I use tactics that don't make me out to be a dick.

Want to order some new sub $8 earplugs for riding and not getting any offers for a free Prime trial. Added a few things to my cart including the Maverick (Mel western comedy) OST. I really like the Amazing Grace version that several country stars collaborated on but the main reason for getting the CD would be to get Vince Gill's cover of The Band's Ophelia. You will not find that cover anywhere online I don't think. I'm pretty sure it's available in iTunes but only when you buy the whole album.

Speaking of Mel films, I also have Edge Of Darkness in my cart. I really liked that one and only have it on DVD. Ooh, maybe I need to try and upgrade Brooklyn's Finest (Richard Gere) one day. I liked that movie a lot too.

But damn, this makes me think about how the culture has changed since the pandemic. I've been telecommuting for what will be 19 years next month, the last 14 of that full time. I'd have a rough time at it driving in and adjusting to the culture vs what it was when I last had to go in regularly, and the pandemic only compounding that. But where I work now, perhaps it's fortunate the company doesn't have the facilities to have everyone in-office as they were founded on the whole work from anywhere methodology. All the PMs and devs are scattered throughout the country.

Before I started telecommuting I used to work with a guy who was the most ornery dev I'd ever met. The "IT guy" had to upgrade something on his machine and asked for his password (back when it was ok to ask for that ), to which he replied, "f*ck you". The tech said, "excuse me?". They went back & forth like that a few times when Mr. Ornery finally said, "that's my password, 'f*ck you', lower case no spaces". Sure enough the tech typed it in and it worked. We were all in stitches. Funny thing is, I'm 100% certain that he used that password just to have the opportunity to have that conversation lol. You almost certainly couldn't get away with anything like that today.
I thought I had already responded to this, but it was on another tab and I never posted it.

Anyway, today was Day One and as expected it was a complete mad house with many faces I'd never seen before vying for their chosen favorite area to work from. The best part was that the folks that came in later were all wearing their "first day of school" face as they frantically looked for a spot to post up in.

Haha, that's a great story about the dev's password and is indicative of the time (close to some 20 years ago for me) when things were considerably looser and more fun than today's buttoned-up corporate culture. Looking back on it now, it feels like we got away with bloody murder whereas now, forget about it.

Trying to pay for Apple services is annoying with my card since for some reason they consider it spam or something like it. Might have to start using cash and gift cards from CVS. All i sm using is iCloud and Music so its not like its breaking the bank.

Bloody murder indeed. The antics we used to pull off is something I would really miss if I had to be stuck in a rated G environment for 8 hours. Not that I/we were terrible office mates or anything (at least I didn't think so ), but we definitely liked to have some fun.

@ 1:24 precisely.

And just in case you're wondering ...

Quote:
"The bodies of the five passengers aboard the Titan submersible were likely instantly crushed and compressed due to the catastrophic implosion, and what was recovered were presumed human remains, likely a "gel-like substance" found within the debris. These remains were subjected to DNA testing to confirm their identity with the passengers on board the submersible, according to the US Coast Guard."
You have a can of shaving gel in your bathroom?
Then you know how it looks like on your hand when you press on the nozzle.
Bones? What bones? ...Vaporized. You have a can of compressed air near your computer's keyboard? Then you know what comes out when you press on the nozzle. ...Pressurized air lifting the dust and debris between your keys. ...Gone with the wind.

Do you know how a "crazy maniac" looks like? You don't need to look any further than on your own TV set while watching the Netflix' documentary 'Titan: The OceanGate Submersible Disaster'.

I ran into that before with AppleTV. I'm not an Apple user so I'd never had an account, and when I first tried signing up for the TV service last year, the hoops I had to go through just to verify my existence as a member of humanity living on planet Earth was ridiculous.

Side story - speaking of paying with cash, I was staying at a hotel one time and went to the gift/food shop for some snacks. I forgot my wallet in the room, but happened to have cash in my pocket. So I went to pay, and the clerk told me they didn't accept cash. So I asked him what he expected me to put into the tip jar that was sitting on the counter? They're an independent vendor so I couldn't charge to the room, so I happily left the stuff on the counter and walked away since he couldn't produce any response other than the dumb look on his face. I admittedly scared him, too, lol.

The hotel is also a favorite that frequent for weekend getaways. I'd been meaning to bring some monopoly money with me so that I can leave it in the tip jar with a note saying "since you don't accept cash" or something to that effect. But I keep forgetting.

Haha, precisely. Those were the days before security auto-lock and accidentally walking away from your desk without locking your PC. If we had buddies that were writing documentation, we'd scroll up a few pages from where they left off, type some ridiculous IT gibberish and scroll back to where they were. Good times!

Contemplating returning my copy of "Lethal Weapon" on UHD based on several reviews I've read that have mentioned color saturation varying from scene to scene. I mean, WB is charging $20-some odd, not bundling a Blu-ray with it and expect folks to just settle for a subpar product? Nah.

lol Never thought about that one. Instant classic.

That was one of the best gag opportunities when someone didn't lock their computer. One of my favorites was to screenshot the desktop, hide the icons/shortcuts, and then make the screenshot their desktop background. Then the laughter that ensued after you hear them cursing at why they can't launch anything from their desktop...

I've heard about that as well. I heard though that it is a minor grievance/nitpick and that the rest of the transfer is about As Good as It Gets.

Tinnitus, Pink Eye, a bout with the Flu that necessitated a visit to the ER which I got billed $1,800+ for, and now another sore throat/painful cough session. On top of all that, every time I sit for an extended period of time, I have to learn how to walk again when I get up. Getting old sux.

I once went the ER because a spot on one my fingers was turning green. I sent a picture of it to my oldest sister who is a nurse anesthetist. She was so freaked out she wanted my dad to take me to the ER immediately. All they did was drain the sucker. It cost me over $2,000. I could've had that done for cheaper at the walk in clinic. Needless to say, I didn't pay that bend you over a barrel gouging. A fool and his money may soon be parted, but not this fool.

Funny thing is, I have good insurance, which should've covered this. I haven't paid a dime of that bill and will probably be getting calls from collection agents soon.

Damn, I recently went through the Tinnitus thing, and also have been having other health things going on that seem to be exacerbated by age (gerd and heart related).

Hope you get some relief from your symptoms!
