But the truth is that over the past year or so, we've been clashing more to the point I spent 90% of my time in my room so I don't have to deal with him. He's very set in his ways, drinks too much, and speaks crassly about women...much like members of my own family used to. I struggled so hard to get away from that mentality, and I feel that I truly need a more peaceful environment.
My living arrangements were similar to this years ago. Instead of roommates, I was bunking with my sister, her A**hole hubby and 3 kids. I had my own room but it was not a happy home, and I always felt like I was taking up space that they needed, which I was, but that didn't hit me until years later. This went on for two decades. Just coming home was an ordeal, as I was just in the way towards the end. Moving out was the best thing I ever did. Do it for your mental health and do it soon. Your roommate, as you say, is set in his ways, which means you can't help him. He;ll have to figure things out on his own.

Even Superman likes squirrels.

Quote:
James Gunn says we almost didn't see Superman save a squirrel.

"Yeah, although it was probably the second- or third-most hotly debated moment in the movie. Because we showed it to test audiences and some people did not like the squirrel.
They’re like, 'Why the f**k is he saving a squirrel?' Why is he taking time out, saving a squirrel?'" Gunn told Rolling Stone

"There was a cut where I cut it out and I’m like, 'I really miss the squirrel. He’s gotta save the squirrel.'

I totally forgot about that scene after I saw the movie. I immediately thought of Superman rescuing a squirrel from some dude hunting it with his shotgun (aka, plastic shovel).

Seriously. I look forward to the 4th of July every year, and always take a few days off around that time. Once that's done, before I know it I'm setting up the firepit to sit outside for an evening to hand out candy, and then I turn around and it's Christmas.

That's a shame.

As a railroad conductor I was particularly fond of his "Crazy Train" music video:

Funny...I have always told the kids to just wait until July 4th gets here, as you won't believe how much faster the summer goes after the 4th...and every year, they say the same thing...."where did the summer go?", LOL!

On another note....the local news top story was about Ozzy's death.....didn't know they even cared!

This kinda stuff really grinds my gears.

Life goes by quick enough as you get older and yet you have these large corporations with their foot on the pedal trying to speed up time while at the same time trying to eek more money out of the public. I also can't stand that there's now pumpkin spice everything since fall is my favorite time of year and a special season for the colors, the weather, my and Biz's birth month () and of course, FOOTBALL.

Descends from soapbox...

I came to Chili's for their 3 For Me and now I'm thinking about where I'll go for dessert. I'm not quite sure what I feel like having yet. I don't have a lot of room left for much more but I can always find room for dessert

Costco is just across the way so I may head there for a strawberry sundae.

When I was a kid, Christmas always felt like it was 10 years away. Now I blink after New Year's and holiday decorations start showing up in stores all over again. My building where I work is already hosting a "Gift Ideas" breakfast this week

Apparently I'm getting to that age that I've been struggling with the desire to work on my truck anymore. Part of the reason is due to some health issues I've had the last few years, which thankfully I've been feeling much better, although still not quite 100%.

Fortunately, I found a good mechanic who does good work and doesn't charge an arm and a leg. My truck needs new brakes and rotors (which are warped), and also needs oil, transmission service, and bleed/replace the brake fluid. Normally I'd just knock that out, but his cost came in lower than what I would have expected for a full-size pick-up. In 2025. So I'll happily float the $ while I sit here and enjoy some coffee while I work . He's a cool and level-headed guy, too. And they're a short stop to my favorite Chicago/New York pizza joint, so I'll take the wife out to dinner after we pick up my rig. Gotta support the local businesses!

I remember that kind of thing starting in the mid 90s when I was working a retail job. Up to that point it seemed we didn't see decorations and the like for sale until closer to TG. But I remember getting a bunch of Christmas stuff a week or so before Halloween one year, and we had to have it out on the floor on Nov. 1st, which they also started playing Christmas music on that same day. I remember the entire staff just shaking their heads. Obviously it's gotten out more out of control now.

Had wondered when the pumpkin spice lattes would be back on the menu at Starbucks (late-August (thanks sfmarine for posting about it. Should be the same time or just after, here).

The schools broke up for the summer holidays last week (it's around seven weeks but it feels like seven billion weeks that they're off. But at least in some areas the traffic won't be as bad until early-September).
