Thinking of my Dad. It was 3 years ago today that he left us. I miss him, but I'm not sad about it. I have memories and a smile from ear to ear thinking about him and his ways, his desires, his calm demeanor and his love for his family.

Very nice John! I know the feeling, as I lost my dad a little over 7 years ago.

My heart goes out to the both of y'all. I lost my Dad 18 years ago & my Mom 13 years ago. Damn, time goes by so fast.

Can I partake in the group hug also. Lost my dad when I was 16 just when I was starting to get really close to him. But it was ok after we learned from the autopsy that he had undiagnosed lung cancer. Dying in his sleep was a godsend after all. My mom already 7 years ago. damn I miss them

I hate the NFL's Breast Cancer Awareness month. It leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. Don't get me wrong, I'm not not (I know.. double negative!) advocating a cure for breast cancer... but isn't it really silly that a sport dominated by male viewers that they focus on breast cancer? When more people die from prostate cancer each year than breast cancer? Wouldn't it be more prudent to educate men who watch the football on the prevention of prostate cancer than breast cancer? But they get more exposure from pink flags than from talking about prostate cancer.

Not to mention all the other types of cancers that exist and affect everyone, just not Breast Cancer.

I'm with you on this. I'm sure my comments will be construed as being selfish / self-absorbed, but I believe that the media has showered too much attention on the subject, and in the process, disregarded other important health issues that afflict men, as well as overlooking other noteworthy charitable causes. Breast cancer affects men, but represent less than 1 percent of those diagnosed in any given year, whereas heart disease, prostate cancer and colon/rectum cancer are among the top 5 killers of men. (Fact: more than 10x the number of men will die from heart disease than all people from breast cancer in any given year) It's not that I don't care about women's issues, but breast cancer has received a disproportionate amount of media coverage and funding, yet have little to show for it, in terms of research. I might sing a different tune if I knew a loved one who was affected by this disease, but for now, I'm donating funds elsewhere and championing other causes.

This is my problem with the campaign

http://www.sbnation.com/2012/10/26/3...cancer-charity

The NFL donates such a small portion of these proceeds to actual cancer research. They say they have donated 3 million dollars since 2009 but that is a drop in the bucket for a billion dollar company.
