So I found out there was a clog in the sewer pipes during September of 2013 (while I was buying the place). A company had come out to snake the main line from the toilet in my basement to remove the roots and other debris causing the clog. Fast forward to this month. Same thing happened again. Except this time septic came out of the floor drains outside. Same company came out again and cleared the clog. Luckily no septic came into my unit. Just a little water under the toilet and a few sediments in the bathtub. Neighbor had the same results.

Today that same company came out a third time to do a video inspection. The guy could only snake 50' before seeing the root infestation. He suggested we replace the main line which runs out the driveway. He marked where everything is with spray paint. He said the pipe is cast iron. The place was built in the 1900s, renovated in 1986 as a four unit condo complex. The pipes may be original. I called my plumber to see if he had any suggestions and maybe knew someone who excavates/replaces sewer pipes. He's going to give me a list of names later today. He also mentioned about chemically killing the roots. It seems like there's a lot of them though. We'll eventually have a meeting and decide what we're going to do. I want to try and get some estimates as soon as possible.

The good thing about this is if we have a major assessment it's split between four people. Thank god for my emergency fund.

I don't know if any chemical would be worth a try.

if the roots are returning that quickly, then you'll need to take care of them. having the pipes cleaned out periodically will help your problem, but it's like putting a small band-aid on a gun shot wound.

definitely talk with the others about the costs and make sure everyone is in the loop on what will happen and how much it will cost. that way there's no surprises for anyone. and encourage them to do their own research as far as asking plumbers what it will cost to fix the problem and replace the pipe (if needed).

good luck. pluming problems can certainly be a pain in the a$$. i'm afraid we'll need a plumber to come clean our lines in a few weeks. our water pressure is starting to go down and every now and then we get some discoloration in the water when we initially turn on the faucet.

trying to figure out what to do about beauty and the beast dvd case situation thing is 1 printer upstairs hasn't has color in years

the other printer i think does however i cannot install undercoverxp thing since the other computer upstairs not admin and crappy slow computer

perhaps i should just purchased it bluray dvd combo amazon and sell back to sam goody

also i got another situation yes disney can give me bluray case and cover art who framed roger rabbit however sorry dvd is full screen purchased fye aka sam goody a few years back when did dvd bluray combo of roger rabbit

so i don't know if disney can just put widescreen dvd in with bluray case and cover art on who framed roger rabbit or will tell me to send full screen dvd mail to them

and i'm scare about amazon if i try to do bluray dvd combo who framed roger rabbit if dvd part has been fixed to widescreen now instead of fullscreen

this is all my fault because at beginning of my collection i didn't fully realize that disney also does bluray's in dvd cases i'm not going to make this mistake next time i purchase another disney bluray near future like snow white and 7 drawfs btw will be bluray case not sorry dvd case meh

The woman who lives above me wants to remove some trees. Trouble is we don't know what tree is actually causing the issue. The guy who performed the video inspection said removing trees will not solve the issue because the roots are in the ground and have already penetrated the pipe enough to cause a clog. I really think we should do it once and do it right. Replacing the pipe with PVC will insure this will never happen again. Yes, it is the most expensive option, but I'd sleep better at night knowing I won't potentially wake up to a bathroom full of shit because of a clog.

I am having an excavator come by to give an estimate after work today. He does a lot of work with the plumber I have used in the past. I hope everyone has enough money to split this cost. I know I have a good emergency fund because I knew things like this would happen.

My bedrooms are in the basement and so is the bathroom I use the most. I'd hate to have to fill out an insurance claim because shit seeped into my bedroom from the bathroom behind it.

at least you're smart enough to want to do it only once and make sure it is done correctly the first time.

I got a .pdf from the Department of Public works listing a bunch of licensed utility contractors. The guy who is coming to give an estimate is on that list. I forwarded this list to all three neighbors who live in my complex. I also forwarded the e-mail to the father of a kid I went to high school with. He lived in the town I am in now for a long time and knows most of the contractors. He can tell me which ones are worth using,

The more you know the better. Also having the right people for the job makes life a lot easier down the road.

I am going to take a guess this job is going to cost $6,000 to $8,000 ($1,500 to $2,000 per person). This includes digging up the driveway, replacing the cast iron/clay pipe with PVC leading to the street, the permit the contractor has to pull to do the work, the inspection the town will most likely have to do, re-paving the driveway, and the parts and labor, disconnecting and re-connecting the new pipe to the foundation as well. Probably lots of other stuff too that I missed. I'll ask the contractor about the whole process later today.

The problem with cleaning them out periodically is the snake can only reach and cut so many roots. The main under my toilet is 3" and I think it's building code to have a 4" diameter pipe leave the foundation, but the pipe going to the street is most likely 6" in diameter. Once the snake leaves the foundation it's going to have a hard time clearing roots from a 6" diameter pipe.

At least this is what I gathered when the guy came out the second time to remove the roots. Basically he got it to the point where the clog was fixed, but it's like putting a bad aid on a gun shot wound. He probably removed one of the many roots. I saw all of them when the video inspection was done. It was like the guy never came,

Accent is one thing, I'm talking about completely different pronunciations. Like when they may have the same/similar accent as you, but still say things differently. Such as "sword" and sh-ward. Some people actually say sh-ward. Yet when they say "bread" they say it the same way as me.

Not accent, different ways of being taught how to say certain words in school. That's what I'd like unified, the same schooling across the country. This has nothing to do with accents.
