Well, I'm not even going to touch on the issues plaguing this country, because I will surely get suspended...again.

But, I will comment on the post below:

"Film snobs" are not the only bullies on this forum. You and I both know that. The comic book/superhero-loving fanboys can be quite...off-putting, as well.

EDIT: I say that as a noted "film snob."

My neighbors are loud tonight, which is weird because usually the neighborhood is a ghost town. Apparently they invited friends over, I hear a female voice that's unfamiliar, and she is cursing up a storm. I guess her boyfriend said something wrong about baseball, and now the argument has morphed into drugs. And now it's back to baseball. lol these fools must be drunk or high.

This morning is our weekly safety meeting and I'm thinking that my mishap from a couple days ago will be centre stage. They're gonna want me to stand up and address it and I'm not a fan of that. It's gotta be done though, cause learning from mistakes is one way of not having them happen again.
One lil brain fart is all it took. DAMN!

Making a mistake only shows that you're human. Everyone single one of the people attending that safety meeting has also made a mistake at some point in their lives. All you can do is admit your mistake, promise you'll never make the same mistake again, and then move on from it. As long as we learn from our mistakes, everything should be ok in the end. Cheer up my friend, you'll be fine.

Some people let their passions get to their heads in a bad way.
What I said in my previous post is based on my personal experience of message boards, but it is very helpful to know that bullying etc. happens in other topic areas like video games.

What I have used recently as a distraction away from negativity, is focusing on the positive things, reading books, listening to music and speaking about the negative things in life.

Thank you very much!
The day after was tough, but today it's all good.
I would've been fine with dealing with it in front of The Crew, but it never happened. They barely mentioned it this morning. No harsh words when it happened, not written up...it's like it never happened. I asked the Supervisor afterwards and he asked me "Did you learn from it?". I said "Oh my god, yes!". He said "okay then." and drove away.

Thank you OI812. Thank you Jett.

Well, we are moving into a new apartment in August and
I am just running everything through my head.
Making sure we haven't missed any details
That we are all set for everything
movers, packing, etc, time off from work.
And how to decorate when I move in.

I'm feeling a little sad since I am selling off most of my Blu-ray collection. I sold 80/100 items yesterday on eBay and made $750+ (before fees + shipping costs). But, I just can't shake the feeling of seeing some excellent titles being sold for less than $10 a piece brand new. I know that I'm doing the right thing, and that their value will only decrease over time, but I don't know...it's still hard.

President Obama and former President Bush will be in Dallas tomorrow. Our paper is on the press list, not sure if my Boss wants to cover this or if he will let me go but I would be totally excited to cover this event if he could get me on the list. Even if just to take a picture of Bush.

If it's political in nature, I am a journalist, I would be excited to take a picture of any sitting or former president, but here in TEXAS, it would be better to take a picture of Bush than Obama. We put a picture of Obama on our front page when he came to Durant Oklahoma last year, it was the WORST selling edition of our paper in years. If it's, um, the other thing well we're not even going to talk about that, we're probably if anything just taking a picture and saying he was here at this time for this purpose and leave it at that.

Well, other than it being a waste of time, money, and space. The format is dead...to me. Streaming is far more convenient. I also have my local library, and Netflix DVD/Blu-ray for those titles not available for streaming. I know saying something like that is liable to get me shot on this forum, but it's where I'm at right now in my life. I'm trying to sell off my collection while it is still worth something.

I mean, if I were wealthy and had a ton of disposable income I would still buy Blu-ray/4K for the better video quality and bonus features, but I'm not and I don't. Especially since I'm moving to ATL at the eoy. I won't judge others for continuing to build their collection however.

Tough decision, but I'm sure you made the right call. Streaming means you never have to go without something you want to watch

Unless your internet goes out or the content owner pulls the license for the content you "own," you mean...

I'm still not sure why this is even an argument anymore. No internet? You can't play video games either in 90% of cases given they require it. It's the way it's going, it works for some of us. Title A gets pulled, watch Title B. Anyone who streams knows its a rotating door for streaming websites. If it leaves Hulu, it shows up on Netflix...or Amazon...etc.

Yes, it is a weak argument. How often do you lose internet connection, without the power going out? And, if the power goes out, then Blu-rays aren't going to do me much good either. And, with all the streaming platforms out there it is nearly impossible not to find a title somewhere. Furthermore, I have Netflix DVD, RedBox, and a library card. I don't have to buy Blu-rays to watch them.

Anyway, I'm not judging anyone for continuing to buy physical media, there are many upcoming releases, like the High Noon Signature Edition, Carrie Collector's Edition, or Pan's Labyrinth Criterion Edition, that I am very interested in. But, I can live without them! Besides, Shout Factory and Criterion both have streaming platforms, and High Noon was on Netflix for years.

I also don't re-watch movies that often. 75% of my collection is unopened, because I watched the movies on Netflix, Amazon, Hulu, or RedBox beforehand. And, streaming services, like Netflix, sometimes have new releases available before they are even on Blu-ray, see The Invitation for example. But, I'm not trying to convert any diehard physical media fans, so I won't talk about it anymore.

I also don't go to the theater that often anymore, but that's for another reason entirely.

First, I don't own a single video game that REQUIRES internet, not if I don't want to game online. If a game does require internet chances are I am not interested in that game.

Second, while I do live in town where I can get good reliable cable internet, I have as recently as December lived out in the country where not only was internet sparse, what I could get was not an option at all for streaming, period. I could get 3G on my cell phone with a data cap of 5 GB a month, yeah try streaming Netflix on that.

Third, power goes out all the time, but I have a LAPTOP with a Blu Ray player so even if my Netflix is out due to no power, I can still watch a movie until the power comes back on. If the power is going to be out so long that my battery dies, well I will probably go to my sisters house or sit at the park and read a book no worries there. Just saying there are cases where the internet is not an option for everyone, there are instances where the internet might be out but watching a movie is still an option, and believe it or not MOST Americans in rural areas do not have access to streaming even still.

Streaming I understand movies rotate, I equate Netflix/Hulu with HBO or TBS shows, movies come and go I am okay with that, iTunes, Amazon, VUDU, no if I BUY a movie I had better well have access to it no matter what. With amazon and iTunes if the power goes out, or if the internet goes out, I can still watch my movies on my Laptop I don't need to authenticate anything that was done when I downloaded the title, with VUDU no internet means no movies, there is an offline option but you have to have authenticated BEFORE the internet went out and who can predict when that will happen and the download process is a pain in the ASS with UV movies.

Also I spent three hours on the phone with Apple over the weekend trying to recover SONGS that I owned that went missing from my account, this happens at least once a year, most often whenever they do an update or try to push Apple Music, I always get it straightened out but albums have been removed from the store and sometimes songs get lost in the transition and you have to have Apple re authenticate them and it shouldn't be that way, that is a glitch but it happens and I can assure you I never inserted a CD and found it blank and had to call customer service to get it back.
