I'm still not sure why people who no longer have any interest in BD would spend large amounts of their free time reading and posting on a site dedicated to the discussion of BD, let alone go to that site to "spread the good word" about streaming. Surely there are other sites out there if you want to chat about streaming or even just general everyday stuff.
![]() I mean, this is a site where mods will correct you if you even slightly misspell "Blu-ray Disc" - does this really seem like the most appropriate place to espouse the benefits of abandoning Blu-ray? |

I wasn't directing at you in particular so no need to take offense, there were others before you who brought it up, I was just pointing out my situation/experiences. You have ever right to ignore or skip over my posts.

![]() I don't take offense to anything said by a bunch of faceless strangers. Yes, I know how a forum works, but apparently you don't. If you quote my post, then you are in fact directing your comments at me. But, don't worry, I will be sure to ignore all future posts from you on this subject. ![]() |

The Mandela Effect, also known as Quantum Effect
At first had me like.... ![]() Then, like.... ![]() Here's a general top 5 list. I don't necessarily make a connection with each observation featured in this list, but it's a good introduction to the phenomenon. Many observations of the Mandela Effect pertain to movies, with Star Wars perhaps being the biggest one. The discovery of this book title changing resonated with my family because we grew up on this book. None of us recall them as the book is now known, The BerenstAin Bears, we all knew them as the Berenstein Bears. Without a doubt. Then there's this one, which in addition to the main observation of the actress who I always recall as Sally Fields, now being known as Sally Field (no s at the end now?), her famous award acceptance speech was also altered. But it isn't without video documentation via spoofs and spinoffs that reveal what was really said, well, what was said in one reality. Anybody else have any thoughts on this? Even if you just wanna be dismissive of it all and call the people out as crazy for alleging our reality has been altered and that you're reality, or recollection of it is consistent with what's presented that's fine. But the rest of us remember something different, and in some cases even have documented evidence of something different. So yeah, that's what's been on my mind. |

Wondering where my Boyz n the Hood 25th Anniversary thread disappeared to? Would a moderator like to shine some light on the matter?

Did somebody start making comments on race in that thread? I can see them deleting it if that was the case. |

Why delete the whole thread? Why not just the comments?

We don't have an online edition, I didn't have permission to share the story online, I wasn't going to share info that well I wasn't sure about. But whatever I was just being overly cautious better safe than sorry just in case. It's a very local paper. but sure maybe I was just being paranoid.

But beyond the basic errors, it was written in a very clunky manner, with words and phrases repeated multiple times (giving the impression that you have a very limited vocabulary.) Look - I'm not trying to beat you up over this, but that article's not exactly screaming "professional writer." And if three people proofread your article, those three people should be shit-canned. What's the point of having multiple proofreaders if none of them are competent? He's taking steps to help maintain his anonymity. Makes perfect sense to me. ![]() Last edited by WhySoBlu?; 07-15-2016 at 12:13 AM. |

1, we are a weekly paper with a very local audience, 2, it was written in a hurry rushed in well less than half an hour while I was quickly struggling to finish other things, 3, I only been writing since September so I am still fairly new, 4, the guy who proof reads my stuff is a 77 year old pro with decades of experience, he had no issues with what I wrote he event commented he thought it was well written, if there are typos or grammatical errors please point them out I could use the criticism to help me as a writer. The quotes, well if there are grammar errors in the quotes you honestly cannot blame ME for quoting someone else, the blame would fall on the person making the statement these were all direct quotes I even double checked the transcripts and copy/pasted from The New York Times on the presidential quotes. I know you are not attacking me but I am not sure you understand AP style or if you saw something I should fix I could use the knowledge to improve. As far as limited vocabulary, well I had limited space, limited time and it was rushed so yeah no defense there, but we are a weekly paper with less than 2000 readers, most are over the age of 65 and 2/3rd of them didn't even graduate high school or if they did that is as high as they went, our style is to write for a reader with an eight grade education. The one typo I caught was good should have been food, but it was also proofed in a rush so I blame myself because the proof reader probably skimmed it and wasn't sure about the quote, again he is 77 and well human we miss things. I bet if you read an article on line even from a daily newspaper or blog you would see errors too, minor errors in a rushed article most readers won't catch we can dismiss, but if there is something major yeah I want to work on it. Keep in mind news writing is not English class, essay writing, grammar rules are somewhat different in AP style. Last edited by segagamer12; 07-15-2016 at 12:21 AM. |
