I was going to look for the same post to quote Biz. I had forgotten who posted it and what thread it was in. I read Gamma's post last night and figured he was talking about the show but didn't think much more of it. I just got on the comp a short while ago and there is an article on MSN which I haven't read yet. I'm assuming you guys are talking about the guy being outed on TV.

Yeah. He had a 50/50 shot at going home last night anyways. He was talking to the rest of the tribe and at first was making solid, valid points. But then he went with a personal attack and no vote was necessary.

I read the article and then of course I had to read the comments and most people are placing blame on CBS for airing that part of the show. I don't know how it works. I know they have to air the tribal councils but I suppose they could have done without that part. I haven't seen any footage but that's a sucky thing to do for sure.

Hey BizCat, when is the last time you exchanged contact info with a new guy that you met? I'm not being cheeky. Obviously I'm just talking about a friend. But not a coworker. I'm just wondering because sometimes I'm really paranoid and have trust issues. Has a guy ever offered to exchange contact info and you thought maybe he was trying to take advantage of you?

Eh, CBS is fine. People can point blame at whoever, but it was an important part to the show which led to the result. And it did have a nice ending.

Ehhh I'm not sure. I really don't ever go out with people and the only ones I talk to are my coworkers. When I was in Balimore last month I had went to an Irish pub by myself and I had met this other guy by himself. He did come out and basically say he's fair game for play.. I just kindly refused lol.

With girls, it's just normal (or not so normal actually) insecurity but with guys (and I'm just talking new friends/acquaintances) but sometimes I can be quite untrusting there as well. I met this guy a few years ago at Barnes & Noble. I forget what got us talking but we ended up talking a lot about travel. We might have talked for an hour or so and when we were done, he offered to exchange contact info. I was a little paranoid because I was thinking he might try to sign me up for something. I don't know what that could have been. I think I just was paranoid because you know sometimes people might try and recruit you...or it's like I was talking to a salesman that wanted to sell me something. I didn't feel like that when I was talking to him but once he offered to exchange contact info, I got a little paranoid.

And now there is this guy that I've been talking to at Starbucks. He's in his 60's probably and he's a nice guy. We mostly talk about history, travel and movies. Well he's said I'm welcome to come over anytime so I had thought about bringing some movies over. I always love sharing movies with people if they haven't seen them already. Obviously the difference in age is unusual but people can be friends regardless of age. Anyway, I'm actually paranoid on some horror level type...I mean he seems nice, totally normal but I can be so paranoid that I'm thinking...

You should counter and instead of going to his house, offer to see a movie together at a theater. Then you're around people and not alone, in his home.

This is very true. I'm sure I'm just being paranoid. When he first gave me his email addy, I didn't email him because he had told me that he had been to Russia a few times and I was worried that I may get busted for sending email to an account that had been linked to terrorism or something like that. After I got to know him better, I actually told him why I was hesitant to email at first. Obviously I mentioned it in a way that wasn't offensive or anything like that.
I do have another story about an older man but I'll save that one for later

I shut basically everyone out when it comes to making friends. I have people from work I enjoy talking to, but it never leaves work. Outside of work I have two really really good friends and between them and my wife that's all I need.

i guess i'm a bit different when it comes to hanging out with people with whom i work. there are a couple/3 guys there that i've hung out with a couple times. each time was at the range when we went shooting. but we had a good time (how can you not at a shooting range, lol?) got to shoot each other's guns.

I'm the only one into hockey, football and baseball. None of them are into the music I like either. There wouldn't be a lot to talk about.
They're good people, just no common interests.

I don't hang out with anyone from work either. They're all dads or alcoholics, or both. Drinking isn't an activity.

i can agree with ya on that one. i can drink socially, but to sit around and get drunk just for the sake of getting drunk, i'm not one for that. i used to do that back when i was younger (21-23), but having a dad that was an alcoholic kind of scared me into thinking that i was turning out that way...so i stopped doing it so much. now, it's just a few every so often. and even then it's only 1 or 2 at any given time.

I was limited to the people that I could hang out with growing up because I didn't want to hang out with people that drank and that was all there was to do in my town.
But do any of you guys feel paranoid about getting to know new people at times?

My daughter has her first stalker crush. She's been tutoring a 4th grader in math twice a week for the past 2 weeks and ever since he's been calling/stopping by to see her every day. Just this morning I found out she's been texting him regularly, all innocent like "hey what up? wanna play some ball later?" . She's in the 5th grade and hasn't really reached the age of liking boys (that I'm aware of, my fiancee says otherwise), she's always been into cars and sports so I don't know how to wrap my head around all this. I know there's nothing I can do to prevent it but I don't want her to lose focus on her current interests (and academics) when she starts exploring the opposite sex.

Just a matter of time before I'll be one of those stressed dads sitting out on the porch anxiously awaiting my daughter coming home from a date...

Your fiancee is likely right. My Lil Girl got into boys at 10 years old. It was tough to handle and her Mom mostly dealt with that stuff. They both knew I'm super protective and left me outta that, thankfully.

What's on my mind is, my sister and I bought an outdoor table and chair set. It's snowing like a mofo right now so it'll be awhile before we use it.
