I started the 60's Batman tv series & in Season 1 Ep.1 (Hi Diddle Riddle) it was one of The Riddler's riddles.

Feeling pretty good, I just hit a targeted monetary goal in my mid-term savings account.

I wish I had enough income to do some serious saving, not getting any younger. Kinda sad my tablet's 64 GB card limit is real, should be able to put a lot of movies on it tonight during the game though.

I love how this loud co-worker closes the door when she's on the phone. They've already told her everyone in this office can hear her when she's on the phone even with the door closed. So it's not even a little private, especially since myself and another co-worker also work in here with her.

I get it, man but it's never too late to start. I was a WAY late bloomer on tucking money away. I was super miserable when I was married and blew through cash buying things in an attempt to make myself happy/fill a void. It didn't work although I did end up with some REALLY nice home theater gear in the process that I still enjoy to this very day, so...

Well like I told my father, $23000 a year isn't even really poverty level. So while I would LIKE to save, I can't even afford all the stuff I need. School is only going to make it worse but I really have no choice if I want my life to change for the better.

i WISH i made that much. that's more than twice what i make in a year. and a few years ago, it was almost 3 times what i made.

in 2014, i didn't even hit $9k
in 2015, it was just over $10k
last year, it was just over $9k

and all of those are pre-tax/ss/medicare

What's sad is looking at your disc "collections", you could have invested the close to $12,000+ you blew on the discs into a nice little nest egg for down the road.

I hope those complaining they live below poverty wages aren't still buying movies and HT equipment and other frivolous stuff and focusing on saving $$$ and also finding ways to get better paying jobs.

if not, you're in for a SERIOUS hard life lesson down the road..it's gonna catch up to ya for sure..and not in a good way.

yeah, i haven't bought an actual physical movie in months; with most of the ones bought in the last year or 2 being bought using a gift card or as a gift. and all the digital copies i've gotten were all free. and my ht equipment is over a few years old, so no money spent there.

That's good start. Hopefully you can get things kicked into gear and move up the ladder and get out of that poverty hole. Good luck!

You probably know the saying: "Money doesn't buy you happiness, it just makes misery much more tolerable."

thanks.

at my current job, i've applied to several other positions to which i'm qualified; but someone else got it. and one position, managerial, is something in which i have over 15 years experience. but they gave it to someone with no management experience. things like that are what's aggravating.

It's like I stumbled into a Dr Phil session here. Dr Wabo's professional and much more coveted advice is to start drinking heavily. Garçon, send the check to Rage. He's picking up the tab.

Well to me (sorry, I suck at expressing myself and I KNOW I'm exaggerating), being above poverty level would mean I can afford -
A place to live
Clothes
Expenses related to health such as working out, healthy eating, healthy teeth, eyes and hearing aids
A car to drive
Being able to buy things without counting $ and being able to travel 1-2 times a year
Yes I know this is more than the poverty level but that's the way I'm defining it
Someone I used to chat with from these forums considered $50k a year to be poverty level in New Mexico. I just didn't know what to say to that, except that he's wrong, well I didn't tell him but still.

Default Perspective

I have experience in therapy too & concur with the advice of RageATL, it's very similar to what I've heard in my sessions as well. I like to keep sayings in the back of my mind for when I get in a certain frame of mind & need to put things into the proper perspective. Here's a couple more that I use to give me perspective when I need it:

"Want nothing and you will have everything."

"Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure you are not, in fact, surrounded by a**holes."
