Agreed. I prefer cold, overcast, rainy days to hot, bright, humid days without question. I often feel like I have little energy during the summer due to the heat zapping it out of me. Ditto. I love the whole build up to the Christmas season, I love driving around at night and seeing all my neighbors houses covered in lights and decorations instead of the usual darkness that falls on neighborhoods after Christmas.

I love sitting watching Christmas shows and movies with the kiddos with the Christmas tree glowing in the corner and decorations everywhere. I love listening to Johnny Mathis Christmas music on my boring car rides to and from work.

I like the snacks we get from vendors at work, the overall cheerful atmosphere that surrounds the month of December. I'm just a big kid at heart and my son and I joked how it would be fun if the neighborhood could stay lit up with Christmas lights year round.

Got a bit of a dilemma..My family is having our big holiday party/dinner this weekend as to not interfere with others' plans for Christmas Eve/Eve. Thing is I don't really want to go, I also don't want to subject my 11 year old to the kind of nonsense that my relatives are known for. Oh, and an over time opportunity came up at work for this weekend if I want it, which we all know more money is always a good thing. The thing is my fiancee has actually been looking forward to this event, she's never had big holiday parties with her family and seeing how she is marrying into mine she wants to get involved.

Without knowing too much about your situation, talk to your lady, lay out the dilemma in advance and let her know your concerns. If after talking to her, she still really wants to go to the party, compromise for her sake...she will appreciate it and she will also be aware that you're making a bit of a sacrifice for her. A happy wife is a happy life.

EDIT: OR, set a time limit on it if you can..."Sweetie, I'm concerned about Uncle Bob's antics after a few drinks, so I'd like to attend from XX PM to XX PM."

This is the key.

If the "nonsense" you're talking about is merely that the family is annoying, then I'd go.

If the "nonsense" is to such a level that your kid would be traumatized then I wouldn't go. But that's a high bar, IMO.

LOL just found out my sister went upstate, thanks for telling me before you left. Oh well, FINALLY starting classes again in 33 days. Cannot remember the last time I was this psyched about something. Think it was right before I ran my first marathon.

I once ran a 50 meter dash, when I was about 10 or 11, in school, and got 2nd place, with three people per race, so I beat 1 person, and lost to 1, but 2nd is still better than 3rd.

LOL nice Scarface. Trying to register for as many community college courses as I can instead of main campus courses. Will cost less that way, want to minimize how much debt I'm going to run up attending online classes. Up to 3 out of 4 online courses at the branch now, hopefully switching those FCS classes won't hurt me. Sure made the projected costs drop, think almost in half.
