if you continue down this dark path, i fear that none of us may be able to follow you. you seek a life where "thanks" are given at will. but that is a life of lies and deceit. a "thanks" can not be given at random or to whomever you wish. they much be given of your soul and not simply for your own feelings of joy. they must be given to those who will attain the most joy from that "thanks".

i hope....no...i PRAY that you will come to see the error of your ways and return to us. return...fulfilled with a new sense of purpose. fulfilled with a TRUE sense of thanks for those that call you their brother. but most of all, i hope you will find peace and happiness in your endeavors to give out "thanks"; to those who truly deserve it.



or, on the other hand, you simply mean that you're out because it won't let you "thank" anyone anymore, then that's cool. there's always tomorrow.

My therapist is on my mind. I don't know how I will exactly handle her. She's a good woman, but how does she deal with me?

Good therapists aren't there to judge us. I'm sure if she felt there was a conflict of interest - that she was unable to be effective or impartial - she would most certainly express that. She understands that you are paying for an hour of her undivided attention and is probably more than willing to give that. I understand your concerns, but worrying how she feels may be construed as transference. I'm sure most therapists seek consultation with their colleagues occasionally to help deal with their own emotions. No matter how well trained, I don't think it's always possible to remain completely impartial. Things will no doubt affect her from time to time, though I'm confident she will ameliorate them in an appropriate time and setting.
Then again, I once had a longstanding therapist yell at me, after a session with a particularly frustrating patient. I took it all in stride, he apologized, and I saw it as both an opportunity to give back in acceptance and see him in a more human light. Everyone has their good days and bad, but in the end, she probably relishes the opportunity to provide a safe and integrating space.
