I am grateful. I like my job and most of the people that I work with.

I don't know all the details on your situation, but it sounds like wrongful dismissal. If it is, maybe getting a lawyer is a good idea?

LOL I work in medical records but as far as I can tell, I do as much work as the other 5 medical records employees put together. I may actually do more but I don't have any way to accurately measure that.

Why work so hard if no one else is? If it was me, I’d take it easy. If they’re goofing off, I’d goof off too. Otherwise I’d feel salty, doing all the work but getting the same pay.

On the subject of workplace shenanigans, I work in a building where employees pretty much do whatever the hell they want. The guy who owns/runs the maintenance company that services the building is a kid (well, he's in his early 30's now) who seems to be completely disinterested in anything except getting paid, which means he doesn't even care if his crew does their jobs or not as long as the checks keep coming in. That, in turn, creates an environment of hostility and unaccountability among the employees if they're told to do something - like their jobs. I run the Lobby operations so oftentimes I have to tell someone to do something. When they're not passing the buck, they're bellyaching under their breath. People take long lunches, come in late, leave early, watch TV, sleep - you name it. It's a paradise for lazy people but potentially problematic for those of us who need stuff to get done.

Well part of it is I was assigned a program that has to be kept up to date pretty much constantly since it's audited constantly. Plus I get bored if I goof off too much. There's also the fact that I don't like most of the people back here FOR the reason that all they do is horse around all day so no interest in interacting with them. Oh and with my luck I'd be messing around instead of working and get caught by an administrator.

Is it low key racist to call Amazon (with an issue) and immediately ask for the United States resolution department? I just hate explaining the situation several times to someone who probably still doesn't understand what I'm talking about.

Not at all. I've had several times where I've asked to speak to somebody that handles English better or less of an accent and as long as you're not screaming at them it usually goes pretty well. I get the first persons name and if there's a follow up survey I include them as well if they followed my request.

I stopped calling because I couldn’t understand their accent. I use the chat feature now. Not only is it easier to read text, but I get emailed a transcript of what was said for future evidence if there is a problem.

Was on the freeway earlier. Saw a car turned around and damaged to hell on the left side. Maybe a tire blew or it was an aggressive driver who lost control. No second vehicle involved so that was fortunate. But what puzzled me was a truck who had pulled over on the right side of the freeway. He started driving in reverse so maybe he wanted to help the crashed driver, but holy crap! He was flooring it and not even going in a straight line! He almost ended up in the right lane with a truck coming right at him. Also, considering it was a five lane freeway, he’d have to back up quite a way to be able to merge back onto the freeway and move forward across all lanes without causing any havoc. Unless his reason for driving backward was something else entirely.

I know this is a different situation, but you reminded me of how many people here in the UK complained when some companies moved their call centres to India. I've had personal experience of phoning up one of these centres and honestly, sometimes it was a joke - they had difficulty understanding me, and I sure as hell could hardly understand what they were saying.

Thankfully, many have moved back over here again but only because of complaints and no doubt the firms involved worrying about their public image.

I used the chat feature last week for an order issue on Amazon. I got a resolution very quickly and a copy of the chat. I avoid calling customer service numbers unless absolutely necessary....mostly because I hate talking on the phone.

I didn't know Best Buy had a free wifi service in-store so I tried it today and when I went to Rotten Tomatoes it gave me this:

No option to bypass the warning, just turn around because you're not allowed to continue. That has to be intentional, right?

I switched to my service provider to access Rotten Tomatoes.

Speaking of accents, when I got my iPhone 7, I didn’t get the audio adapter so had to call Apple. The first rep had a Southern Drawl, like he was from Texas or somewhere around there. The second rep had an Eastern accent like she was from NY or Boston. They were both excellent and helpful. I thought their different accents was pretty cool.

While flying to camp I saw that all the lakes around my hometown were all thawed out. As we flew east , I could see more of the bigger lakes still had ice on them.
