I’ve been to Sonora a few times. I wanna go in the winter cause, well, I love snow. I have family out in La Grange, so I try to get out that way every so often.
Your dad is commuting from the valley? I used to do that commute from Modesto but my shift was an early one so the traffic was never too bad. I'm surprised to hear someone say they're not too eager to go to the Bay Area just because there is more to do and there's more to see. I have heard of La Grange but I'm not sure if I've ever been there. Do they have a rodeo there? And if you want snow, then you should definitely get up to Sonora. I think it's Highway 108 that you just follow through Sonora, up through Twain Harte. You can actually go all the way over Sonora Pass into Nevada. I was in the Marines and they actually have a cold weather base up there that they use for...well cold weather training I never have been there. You can't go all the way through in the winter though as the gate will be closed at some point. My mom and stepdad moved to Murphys a few years ago and I was not familiar with that area at all. If you go above Murphys, through Arnold, you'll get into the mountains. They have a nice lake up there called Alpine Lake and they have a ski resort like Pinecrest does (Dodge Ridge).

Yeah, he’s been commuting for work since we moved over there back in 1999. He’s more than ready to retire and stop commuting, but he’s a few years away from that. For the first year after we moved to the valley, both of my parents commuted to work in the Bay Area. I rode with them too and did my freshman year of high school in Cupertino. That year was enough for me, so I started my sophomore year locally.

Everytime I’ve been up to Sonora, it’s always been during summer time. There’s a great restaurant there on the main strip that I love called the Diamondback. It’s been several years since I’ve been up to the snow (I don’t get out much; I’m a homebody), so I’m definitely overdue. I remember seeing some type of training area up there in the mountains on Google Maps one time, but I forgot about it until you mentioned it. Thank you for your service, by the way!

While I was in LA, I got a text from a friend telling me the local hardware/lumber store in our town was hiring for full-time. I got an application Friday when I got home, and I met with the owner today to turn it in and talk. He just called me about 15mins ago and offered me the job. I start tomorrow! I had to take a $5/hr pay cut (I was making $17/hr at my last job), but I had already expected that. Regardless, I'm glad I'm back to work and in a new setting.

Managing interpersonal relationships in today's day and age is so exhausting sometimes, people are legit nuts.

grats!

i'm making less per hour at my current job than i did at my previous job. BUT...i'm getting more hours per week so i'm actually bringing home more money on each check.

Thanks! I'm fine with the cut for now. I still have 2yrs left of school before I can hopefully move on to better things, but for now it's fine. Looking forward to going over the finer details tomorrow.

I guess today is Criterion's flash sale, so I'm pondering on if I should make a purchase. I might sit this one out.

I haven't had a decent slice of pizza in years. Nowadays all you see are either franchises or thin crust joints for the health nuts. Franchise pizza is OK but I miss those old school guys who used to make authentic pizza with lots of cheese. Now a regular slice is something like $4.00

there was a place about 30 minutes from me that used to do chicago style. LOVED that place. sadly, it closed back in the early 90s.

but i remember going there when i was kid (early 80s) and getting full on 1 slice.

and when i lived in washington (back in 2000-2003), there was a place in vancouver that had the best pizza. they used the old-style brick ovens. they were higher-priced than the national chains, but it was well worth it.

I spent the past weekend in New York and only ate pizza. I think me and my buddies tried about five different places spread out over two days.

I could go for a slice right now..

The heck is a subprime pizza?

Have to take exam #2 for my nutrition class in-person so no online answer checking for that one. Better review substantially before next Monday evening when I have to go take it.

Just realized it's not a "Rising Crust" DiGiorno, even though all the others that were around it when I grabbed it were
