My girlfriend and I put a $200 limit on each other for Christmas this year, and I've been strategically buying her gifts (waiting for sales and such) so I can get them as cheap as possible and overall get her more, but it still feels like it isn't enough.

Most of today's music isn't even music - it's a series of sound bites created by computer and electronically altered voices. Only a small fraction of what you hear comes from an actual person. So, basically, anyone can be a star these days!

This is one of the many reasons I'm so appreciative of rock and metal. Mastering an instrument takes years of dedication and hard work. On top of that, you gotta get along with everyone else in the band and have to be all of the same mindset which isn't easy at all. Plus, neither genres are as popular as they used to be (for whatever the hell reason), but tons of bands are still pumping out albums and touring for the love of the music. Rock and metal will always be BETTER in every way than other genres to me.

Ya know that old saying, "Fake it 'til you make it?" What do you do when you've run out of fakes?

I've been considering self-employment for a while now, and I think I'm going to get serious about taking the leap. I'm gonna relax for the rest of the year, and then in January get down to business and start researching ideas and putting things together to see what my best options are--blog, website, online shop, etc. I've always wanted to work for myself, especially after my five-year run at Amazon (ugh...that place...)...tired of dealing with corporate BS, hiring processes, HR departments, etc.

I know it's gonna be a lot of hardwork, but I'd rather work hard doing something I enjoy than something I don't. I'm nervous about doing this, but I'm serious about it as well.

Anyone else here self-employed?

Music producers are the new pop stars. Most of the hit songs are Pop Producer feat. Random Female Vocalist

I just did the math and it looks like including the 13 classes I need to finish my major, I will be at about 111 credits after I finish those. Definitely something to discuss with the advisor at length in April since I don't want to go that far over 120 credits if I don't have to.
