I’ll never understand why people prefer to drive in the rain over the snow. This morning, driving on a completely straight stretch of road, I hydroplaned and did a 360 into a guard rail. Luckily the car spun the perfect amount that only the rear bumper hit the rail. New bumper is an easy fix.

Trying to stay positive about it. On that corner of the bumper there was a pretty big gouge with missing paint from someone hitting my car in a parking lot. It would have had to be filled/painted eventually anyways. This just expedites that process.

There is plenty on my mind From hoping Americans get real about automation, to actually doing something proactive about it and vote Andrew Yang in 2020 so that the U.S puts universal basic income on the world map as a path for better lives for the less fortunate and average folk who can't afford health care, can't imagine a life of "upward mobility" much less contend with an unexpected bill of $500. I want this because then my country can also move on such a thing!

From solving first world problems to my outright "first world problems"... I want to start enjoying 4K UHD already (again)... it's been hard this past 2 months with a house move, selling things to afford the transition and money stress. Had to downsize from a house rental to an apartment for $$$ reasons; so my "dream setup" is being put on hold on the audio side. I'm still going ahead with upgrading my personal setup to an OLED C9 55" along with Nvidia Shield 4K (to handle REMUX playback) and Panasonic UB820 for DV discs.

And at least a pair of Axiom M3's to start in order to complete the uniform bookshelf frontstage. A Pioneeer VSX-932 for the atmos/DTS:X. At first my older KEF "eggs" on the top of each side wall for front top atmos placement in 5.1.2 configuration...

In June I'll get that LG C9 4KTV. We still didn't get the bond back from the last house nearly 3 weeks later. But I'm hopeful we get half it back because I have some purchases to make and by December I plan to invite my brother round at the holidays for watching some of our favourites! The Mummy (1999), Alien, Mad Max: Fury Road, Saving Private Ryan, Gladiator.

=============

I'll get a single SVS PB-1000 in time but before then I'll prioritize work on room treatments, including lots of foam panels and bass traps. By 2020 sometime I want the apartment setup fully complete. Planning to have 150+ UHD titles by then. Do a lot of demoing. Lot of enjoying the best media format ever Then work on my freelance upward mobility or just choose a mundane occupation semi-full time that enables me to make tweaks and small upgrades like getting 2 sets of Polk Signature bookshelves. A pair of S15 for rear duties and S10's for atmos level. Then next step is get a "NAS" drive bay with usb for the nvidia and 4 x 4TB WD blue drives for my remux library of HDR10 content.

Setup the current plasma in the spare room for 3D playback, buy new sleeker active glasses for the Panasonic 50", and build that library of 3D blu-ray up from the 30 or so I have, to 100+

Brandon Cronenberg is working on a movie titled Possessor, if anyone is interested. I enjoyed his film Antiviral.
Quote:
Possessor follows an agent who works for a secretive organization that uses brain-implant technology to inhabit other people's bodies - ultimately driving them to commit assassinations for high-paying clients.

Between this site's admins deciding that 6:00 AM is the best time to run a daily maintenance protocol (it's not) and my all-in-one computer conking out, I've had to find alternate ways to relax before heading out to work. Luckily there was a thunderstorm early this morning so I sat on my easy chair listening to the rain and thunder. It was very relaxing but I can't count on storms every day. I can always get another computer but I'm stuck with the ill-timed maintenance thing. They need to run those at 2:00 AM or something, not 6.

Really wanting to enjoy my week off, but having a hard time unwinding. Stressing about work and a couple of things around here. Especially my wife’s upcoming birthday. Which I’d like to make special, but she seems to be fighting me on something as simple as “what is your favorite ice cream or cake flavor?”

Congrats on the (I think) new job, Donster. I find a shot of tequila helps relieve any stress you might me feeling. It's medicinal. I'm thinking about what to do for lunch. It's a Monday and will need something appropriate.

Why do I read comments to music videos? I mean I've read I don't know how many posts about TS and Shania Twain. I have no intention of listening to Taylor Swift because she doesn't appeal to me but Shania is great. Yet I read over 30 posts about the two being compared. I have no life

Thinking about how much of a cluster*k this new schedule change has been today. It's just not going to work at my workplace.

Thanks Waboman. Yep, been working for this company since the end of January Between fasting and Dad duty shots are a nope for the moment. Although I may reassess that as the day progresses. About to get cleaned up again. Spent the last hour or so wiping mold and crap off of the Jaguar’s interior. Have a bad feeling that this is going to turn into a project. Which we’re not ready for. Oh joy

I think I need to start closing some of my credit cards. I'm tired of the temptation being there. I know it hurts your credit, closing accounts, but I have a few cards with no balance that I don't see a point in keeping open.

don't close the accounts, just destroy the cards. no cards means no using them.

We have one we've never used. It's been sitting in my dresser for months. Out of sight, out of mind. We wanted to keep it just in case.

That reads like dialogue in a crime novel. Some old detective sitting in his favorite chair pissed off at technology, and the fact he's up before most people.

That's an option I suppose. I just don't see why I need six open cards that aren't carrying balances. My girlfriend has only had one credit card ever and she's always had a better credit score than me lol.

Also, cards will close themselves after not being used for so long. So if I just cut them up, and forget about them, eventually I'll get an email or something saying the account has been closed anyways.

As simple as this sounds, it works. Been there, done that, when I was on a program to get my debt eliminated. I had four cards and cut them all up.

Some people will tell you to put the cards in a bucket of water, and then place the bucket in your freezer. Just don't.

If you're serious about curbing (stopping) credit card usage, cut the cards up, or shred them if you have the shredder. You'll be surprised at how well it works. Out of sight, out of mind, and you will just as soon adapt a lifestyle of going without over the present one of impulse buying.

Keep the accounts open, and once you get your spending down and your accounts zeroed, just do one or two SMALL transactions* on each card, each quarter of the year to keep the credit fresh.

* SMALL! I mean, you treat yourself to a soda for a job well-done. And, you pay the transaction off on your next billing statement.

Here's a decent article about how the amount of credit cards can affect your score.

My personal mode is to have two cards.
