When a job does a background check and told you have the job, do you still need follow up telling them you are still interested in the job? I mean it sounds like they committed to me so I should wait for the background check, shouldn't I?

Will today be the day I kill a co-worker and/or member of management? Will I finally have the guts to walk out while singing Johnny Paycheck's "take this job and shove it!"

I hate my job. One of these will happen.

This songs even better Mike (It is Johnny Cash’s Oney if the site is being buggy) I feel you. I’m hoping I don’t have to see the grocery manager who keeps pulling my tags because she’s too ****ing lazy to pull a schematic when something doesn’t fit on a shelf All I can think is one more week

Oh yeah that was definitely better lol I haven't been here 25 yrs but there's a guy here that reminds me so much of Oney.

Wow that song really got me to think about how long I've been working...24yrs...started at age 8(mowing lawns/shoveling snow/stacking firewood), first 'real job' at 14 (paperboy), age 16/17 I was juggling 2 jobs(Kmart cashier and local grocery store cart pusher/maintenance) and my senior year of high school. More than 3/4 of my life slaved away in the workforce, too bad i never saved any money I earned all these years.

I only acknowledge one of them: The Legend of Boggy Creek.

Well, today was fun. First off, I’m fine and no one else was involved. But hit a rough patch of highway and spun out of control and ended up in a median ditch. Called AAA, but the emergency folks were on the scene faster and called the city’s contracted tow company to pull me out. Outside of hay grass and a couple of center wheel caps missing on the drivers side wheels the green machine seems fine. I ended up calling out despite the car being drivable and my account only being a couple or exits away.

I just wasn’t in the mindset to be handling my resets today. I ended up coming home, eating breakfast, talking to my wife and sleeping for half the morning away. In lighter news. I have a phone interview tomorrow and a face to face on Friday. I’m kind of hoping I ace Friday’s and it is more inline with the next step I want to take. It is with Pepsi, so I shouldn’t have to worry about them pulling up stake.

WHOA! Glad you're OK man, it sounds like it had the potential to be a bad accident so you're lucky.

One of my co-workers quit and a Driller from the opposite rotation has requested a transfer to my crew. I’m not happy about either of those two events.

I lost my cell phone today. Normally, a post like this should be in the "VENT Your ANGER" thread but I'm not angry or even upset. Actually, I kind of feel liberated. I guess I'm not like most people. I know a few folks who would literally have a mental breakdown or severe panic attack if they lost their phone but, thankfully, I'm not like that. I'll replace it eventually

been thinking about giving mine up (well, the service, anyway). about the only thing i use it for is texting and music.

i can text using wifi at home and at work. and i use bluetooth for music when i'm in my truck. and neither of those require cell service to work.

While I’m not looking forward to being unemployed again, I am looking forward to this being my last week at my current job. I called out (I’ve never done that) when I had the spin out. So the work for the week was left incomplete and apparently my boss didn’t send anyone to the store today to help catch me up. Which means I have to try and wrap up 2 weeks of work in 2 visits. Now I’m assuming he didn’t send anyone based on his generalized statement about wrapping up our incomplete’s

Do not do the job of multiple people for the pay of one.
If you can't get it done, it isn't your fault or concern.

Well, technically it is my account. I had just hoped someone would have stepped up and handle the situation while I was off. Even if they’d knocked out my lighter resets. The real problem is the unrealistic expectations on what can be accomplished by one person in a 10 hour span. Especially when there’s always discrepancies between the schematics and the actual product.

Giving these, and many other issues I’m sure I only have a glimpse of, I understand why my company is pulling up stakes. I can only imagine how much they were paying in training and unemployment, given the amount of turnover we’ve had since I started. It is one of the many reasons I turned down doing something similar with a crew that handles the Walmart and Family Dollar remodels.

Would any of you recommend Big Love (TV Series 2006-2011)? I rewatched Six Feet Under and the last season had a trailer for it. Looks kinda interesting.

Another small private plane crash. Who is flying these things? Are they giving pilot licenses to just anyone these days? Some rich douchebag playing pilot because he bribed an airport operator? Renting a plane isn't like renting a jetski. If you fall off a jetski or crash into something, chances are you're only going to hurt yourself. You crash a plane, there's a good chance you're going to kill some poor schmuck taking a nap in his backyard or you'll crash into a building, killing dozens.

The weather and my drive in and home tomorrow. Apparently thunder & lightning is in the forecast up until my last day. It has been 33 years since I had a spin out like the one I had last week. So if I have any issues this week I’m done.
