I volunteered at a animal shelter in high school, and IIRC there aren't any costs or really any questions asked if you bring in a stray. Obviously they may ask/try to convince you in keeping it as cat shelters are usually overcrowded but really there shouldnt be any fees involved("upkeep costs" are ordinarily paid by the adoptee).

I have a lil bit of trepidation about work. I’m heading back tomorrow and am fairly certain that at some point, there’s gonna be fireworks between my supervisor and I. We used to get along well, but I think those days are gone.
I’ll just do my best to be calm, talk with respect and definitely not be so damn explosive.

I feel your pain Scarriere, but at least you’ve got some seniority. The assistant manager is starting to grind my gear and I’m trying not to lose my shit. Took forever moving some feed from receiving and I had a guest waiting. Then he went sideways and told me, “Well, you’re the expert and can figure it out!” then left me when I ask why we weren’t waiting to remove the cellophane wrap from the pine shaving bails pallet until we parked it in its spot Sadly, this is supposed to be the guy who will get me up to speed to take over his job once he is promoted to store manager in another location. My biggest fear has come. My daughter just started middle school and asked me for help with her homework last night and I...I couldn't figure any of it out! I've been out of school for almost 20yrs, frankly I feel like a failure as a parent. So my question, how old is too old to go back to school? I was busy working back in high school while my peers were taking their SATs and prepping for college.

you're not a failure, Mike. not knowing math doesn't make you a failure; it just means you're not good at math. and i can totally relate to that.

you don't need to have the answers...you just need to help her find the answers. it may seem like a cliche or even cheating...but google can answer any question you seek.

my youngest niece asked me some questions about math back in the spring (high school senior at the time). she sent me the problem and i had no idea how to solve it. i felt horrible 'cause i'd always been able to help her with anything. and i guess she got her bad math skills through genetics, lol, because no one in my family was ever very good at any kind of advanced math without extensive help.

now...back in 2005/2006, when i was going for my associate degrees, i got perfect grades in both of my math classes (calculus/trigonometry). i was never that good at math in high school (back in the 80s) and barely passed those classes (algebra, algebra II, geometry). but with my associate degrees, my math instructor was so damn good she made the classes simple for me to understand. so i came away with perfect scores in both of her classes. and i mean perfect like i didn't miss 1 single question on any exam/test she gave.

so give google a try. and if that doesn't help, maybe take a look a tutor. some can be expensive, but there are some that are quite reasonable.

Being mathematically challenged I feel your pain Mike. The Mrs and The Boy take to it like fish to water. So when we were splitting his studies there were things she did with him and things I did. Sk33tr gave some sound advice on helping her find the answer, but is it possible for your wife to help her with that particular study too? I know she’s got a funky schedule, but maybe review it with her when she’s off?

Apparently the store manager spoke to the district manager about me wanting me to be his assistant manager (he also mentioned the assistant manager wants his own store) and the DM said it sounded like he had things under control.

I have no idea the time frame, but I’m hoping it hits my 6 months timeline goal. Of course the other lead supervisor and I inputted the till information in reverse order. So I’m looking forward to getting my stones busted on that tomorrow

It's weird when you're trying to remember something, like let's say a movie, but then you can't remember anything about it. You can't remember what genre, who was in it, what it was about etc. so it's like you're thinking about it but you can't think of anything it's about so how are you really thinking about it?

Well, we indeed got called in and ask what happened when we inputted last nights till totals He also busted our chops about a few other things, but I had to hold him up when he said we only killed 1 pallet of freight. We were slammed and knocked out at least 3-4 before starting our closing shift procedures. So all in all, I don’t think it was a bad closing. Although I had a better one this evening.
