I think you'd be a great spokesperson for an anti-marriage ad. I have the perfect tagline: "Don't let this happen to you"

No one should get married. It is a trap that will end in disaster.

Marriage simply doesn't work. Even people who think they're madly in love with each other will only be together a few years. What is love, anyway? I love my dog. I love movies. I love to travel. But I'm not marrying any of those things. A human being? Other than loving family members, people mistake lust or desire for love all the time and those things are always temporary. I'm totally down with living with someone you're attracted to and likes the same things you do but I would never sign a contract that binds me to that person for all eternity. That's just lunacy.

At this point in my life I couldn't imagine dealing with marriage. My last relationship was so miserable for a majority of it that I'm sort of scarred from even dating, being completely honest. Better off doing me and whatever makes me happy.

In general, it seems that the friends my wife and I surround ourselves with have just been acting funny lately, like everyone all at once and it's palpable, nothing we're making up or being delusional about. Almost like it's an environmental type thing, like it's written in the stars or it's some kind of Seasonal Affective Disorder-type thing during this time of the year. It's wild.

I'm thinking about getting a portable Bluetooth speaker but I don't really need one that badly. I kind of want one though and you know how it is when you decide that you want something...

What kind is it and I'm assuming that it's still working fine? I could certainly put it to use but I would probably find myself making me put it to use. I used to have a JVC docking device for my iPod Classic and I would use it at work when sorting parcels. It was really neat and I got a lot of use out of it.
Speaking of that iPod, it was a 160GB with about 5,000 songs on it and I lost it somewhere last year. Losing it was bad enough but then the fact that they discontinued the classics

it's a wiseways kube bluetooth speaker. and yep, it works just fine.

it's not the best quality of sound (just a single speaker, i think) but it's good enough for using when i'm in the shower.

I wouldn’t take any relationship advice from someone who doesn’t have relevant experience.

OT, my time on this crew is over tomorrow and I’m happy to be going back to mine.
But I definitely had a blast!

I got accused of acting passive aggressive the last few times I’ve worked with one of our associates today. I’m taking it with a grain of salt simply because they seem to have a problem with quite a few people. Where they pissed me off was implying whatever is going on in my personal is affecting my work.

I corrected that right away and told them that I know how to separate my personal from my professional. No one, and I mean no one knows what is going on in my life at the moment. I’m real sorry that the store manager reassigned some of our tasks to you because we’re not able to do those during the evening.

If marriage doesn't work then please explain how it is that my wife and I celebrated our 27th anniversary at the end of September. We've been together for 32 years.

Here in Canada, child support is based on your income and there's a set amount. I'm guessing it's similar for you. I also suggest getting a lawyer to help you out. Even if you and your wife work everything out before and then just take it to a lawyer to go over it and see if there's anything you didn't think of and then they can make sure it's all legal and in writing for everybody's protection. My brother went through this several years ago. Good luck.

Why does she want your collectibles?

I appreciate the suggestions, but there’s nothing worth getting lawyers involved in. Outside of the month to month, there’s nothing owed. The house and car are paid for. I just hate that I’m selling off something I invested a lot of time into, but as an adult I understand why we’re doing it. I just don’t like it

Congratulations! My parents were married for 45+ years (my mom passed last year). You guys come from another era, a time of ideals and massive social change. It made sense to hook up in those days and many are still together. It sort of doesn't make sense now. A lot of people get married for the financial security, as a means of escape or even for the novelty. Love is NOT part of the equation.

Selling them would put us ahead. I’ve got a lot of things that are worth a lot to the right buyers. I’m going to start pulling it down this weekend and start some auctions on eBay or the Marketplace on Facebook to test the waters.

Yeah, I don’t buy that “another era” jive. Lots of people in my family were divorced growing up. So I’d say their successful marriage is based on the points they’ve made on it recently. And let’s be clear, there are more good marriages than bad. You just hear about the bad ones more. Like life in general.

My wife and I just started seeing a marriage counselor and it's doing wonders for us. I was never a believer that counseling actually helps but I'm being proved wrong. One of our "lessons" so far basically tells us arguments/fights so long as not physical is actually a good thing-who knew?
