More than 40 spring breakers who ignored public health advice test positive for coronavirus

Quote:
(CNN) — Dozens of spring breakers from Texas boarded a plane for fun and came home with coronavirus.

About 70 people in their 20s chartered a plane from Austin, Texas, to Mexico for spring break two weeks ago. They went against the advice of White House officials who asked that people avoid gathering in groups of more than 10 and nonessential air travel.

Now 44 of those people have tested positive for coronavirus -- all of them University of Texas at Austin students, a university spokesman told CNN on Wednesday.

When did the church thing happen, it obviously wasn't recent.
Had to have been at least a week or two.
Plus, the dead were either old, sick or both.

Yay! Open again.

Shelter in place in SF Bay Area (the original 6 counties which declared it on 3/13), have made the guidelines stricter now, banning most construction and closing all parks, dog parks, and any game that requires sharing a ball or other equipment (outside the family living together).

Holy S***!
Hopefully the models are correct in that we'll see a peak in cases/deaths by the end of this month. It might be another month after that before they loosen some of the restrictions. Although it doesn't look good anytime soon for any business that depend on crowds, such as concerts, sporting events, theaters, running races, etc. Even gyms might have to stay closed a long while. Sure hope not.

The numbers look really bad, that's all I'll say. I'm projecting it out in my head, and it's scary.

There is no "behold." Let's not spread fake news.

It's going to take lots and lots of testing. Most fail.

The UK has become another real hotspot I'm afraid. Stateside New Jersey as well, with more deaths today than NY, but with less than half the new cases (which I assume they just don't do as much testing as NY does, which is why the mortality rate seems high).

I don't think its about "hotspot" per se but that a LOT of people globally are infected and of those asymptomatic cases we won't really know the true extent of how many COVID-19 infected until we can reliably test after the most serious cases are dealt with and anti-gen tests could be used to measure the spread.

This COVID-19 figure globally isn't being reported properly when you consider that just like World Wars, countries are hiding true figures so as to not cause panic but videos and information is LEAKING like a ship with holes. You can't really get away with hiding the truth in a modern age as much imo and its showing.

1918 Pandemic, the theory says that the virus just "died out" after 2 years... so is that what's going to happen with this one too...???

So basically virus was introduced, started to die, then a second wave of the virus more aggressive than the first arrives, then suddenly it just "died out".

HIV isn't the kind of virus for which the general population would eventually be expected to develop "herd immunity".

And even if a potential vaccine for COVID-19 eventually is developed, it may not protect everyone 100%, just like a flu vaccine doesn't absolutely guarantee you won't get the flu - but it does decrease the risk and potentially its intensity.
