Even if they open everything back up the unemployment numbers probably would not drop to much. How many people are going to go out to eat, get their nails done, go get a massage when their income has shrank by 50% and theirs a chance they could be hospitalized or die with every trip out.

I can see people showing up to work because they need to eat or pay rent but I cant see the majority of consumers showing up to buy anything but the essentials anyway which will naturally shut down the economy.

Wow, Cuomo says over 21% of NYC may have the antibodies already.

High chance of false positives though. Don't think there's an accurate antibody test anywhere in the world yet.

You’d be surprised. I’ve heard on various occasions while out getting essentials how people wish they could shop at other stores again. Open things up & people will you shopping. Me personally, I’m looking forward to stepping into a Best Buy & Old Navy again.

Americans too scared to go to work risk losing unemployment aid, experts say

I've lost about 13 pounds since all of this started! I eat no fast-food right now, and I also find myself craving fresh foods and less processed food.

It's not like it has to be one or the other when it comes to people going hungry. There is enough money available now to provide millions around the world with food, not to mention the amount of food we waste in this country every single day. So no, don't act like this is all the virus' fault. This has been an ongoing problem that could be greatly remedied if more people actually cared.

Based on Worldometer's count (which includes probable deaths reported by New York City) of about 21,000 deaths and the 2,700,000 case estimate from the new antibody study, the actual case fatality rate in New York State could be at around 0.78%

Sounds like the high chance is actually false negatives, the chances of false positives have been estimated to be much lower than this:

Mildly rude post forthcoming - to the old guy I live with constantly asking me whether I washed my hands when I come in from outside - maybe you should start covering your mouth every time you have a loud coughing fit that can be heard across the house. Also maybe stop asking me every time I buy food or other necessities why I'm spending money. Worry about your own finances.

SIP here extended to May 15th but I see it as a step forward since they're asking businesses to come up with plans to re-open soon with guidelines to protect customers and employees.

Not really. She was trying to be funny, pointing out the inconsistencies in instructions being given to the public but she only included certain portions of those instructions because if she included everything, it wouldn't be funny. In the end, it wasn't funny anyway.

Got 3 foot longs from Subway myself, ate 1 for lunch. Wish the employee who had handed them to me had practiced social distancing but at least I got to eat food that didn't come from this house.

I kinda avoid take-out in walk-in establishments just because I don't feel comfortable. It's like a reminder of the dark times we are in with people wearing masks and worrying about getting within 6 feet of someone. In grocery stores its just a necessary task that you want to get over with. However drive thrus are fine, but that generally means fast food.

Ideally take-out in restaurants without a drive thru, would have online ordering and someone could bring it out to your car (and have them put it on your hood so you don't have to roll down the window).

Oh, and I make sure the food is hot food, to make sure the virus can't live on it. Something like a salad I wouldn't feel comfortable eating.

I’m guessing the person proceeded to throw the soiled gloves in the parking lot before driving off.

How can people be this stupid? It defies logic.

Exactly. The day stores start opening up, people will flock into them. They will assume if it's open, it's safe. Sure the smart ones will stay home and avoid crowds and stores, but plenty of dummies will flock into stores and theatres and restaurants, especially younger people.
