Figured I would post a 7 minute video on a facility that does SARS CoV-2 testing. The faculty of the lab give a tour and and explain the process a bit.

Since we started the month of November, not a pretty picture worldwide.
The numbers of new cases and mortalities daily are expanding considerably.
October was bad, November won't be better.

* The hospital where I was born in Quebec just had 150 Corona infected people. More than one third of them is the staff...medical nurses, etc. It is very very bad.

Did anyone read the fine print on these "vaccine" trials?

Like the fact that it was only tested on 94 people. Or that it's 90% effective at reducing symptoms, not stopping COVID. You can/will still get COVID with this vaccine. You'll just have fewer symptoms. Not sure how it can even be called a vaccine at that point. I'm not an anti-vaxxer, but I would prefer a vaccine that has been tested on more people and one that actually prevents COVID entirely, not just some of the symptoms.

I'm not a huge conspiracy theorist, but it just seems shady that this "vaccine" was announced by the company itself and not the FDA. Also shady that the Pfizer CEO sold off the majority of his stock after the announcement and stocks skyrocketed.

I remember reading it was 'unusual' for a company to announce findings at that stage of the trial - so it may be a case of take the money and run, or it could equally be that based on the promising results they figured the world needed some good news.

These vaccines will have ultimately have been tested on 10's of thousands of people before they eventually get released. And I disagree with your assortment that they'll only 'reduce symptoms'. No vaccine is 100%, and the disclaimer that 'you may still get it, but your symptoms will be less severe' is a standard legal disclaimer to cover their ass. My take is that there's a high degree of certainty it will protect you from getting Covid.

The big unknowns for me are:

a) What if any long term safety effects are there?
b) Will it protect if the virus continues to mutate or will we end up with a yearly 'get your Covid shot' type nonsense?
c) How long will protection last?
d) How are they going to be able to distribute effectively when there's the requirement it be kept at -80 degrees?

Considering the potential for long term problems related to COVID, I can’t believe People WOULDN’T get the vaccine.

rather than getting the vaccine in a willy nilly fashion, make sure you check with your well-informed ordering doctor as to exactly when would be the best timing in which to get the vaccine in order to allow your immune system to maximize development of anti-corona virus antibodies despite the immunosuppression of your concomitant therapy for cancer, rheumatological diseases, etc.
I’m not sure if I qualify. I work in social care but work privately for a family (care for their son). My client has Downs and Autism and is considered a risk. The problem is, there are only 5 million initial vaccines (10 million including double doses)
Obviously for myself, it’s not as much of a concern. People with underlying conditions or of a certain age and care home staff (who look after many clients) as well as hospital staff should be first in line.

Because not everyone is "high risk"? One of my friends had it earlier this year (positive test) and her only symptoms were a fever and cough for about three days and then she felt fine. That was in July and she hasn't had anything else happen since.

Everyone sees the "horror stories" from the news like "covid causes brain to age ten years" or "person develops breathing problems six months after having covid" or whatever, but it seems like those are 1 in every 100,000, not 1 in every 100.

Psychologically speaking this is good news for the population and for the stock market (investor's shares in that stock). It also encourages people to wear a mask and follow the five cardinal rules to slow down this pandemic and save lives and save jobs and save the economy...I think. That is my opinion and not the bible's scriptures written in stone for the last billion years. ...A small dose of humor can't hurt, even if it ain't the cure.

Like everyone here we all have read and keep reading about the ins & outs of this new vaccine estimated to be 90% effective and with a required cold storage of minus 94° Fahrenheit. That is ultra cold!

This is good news as we have faith by seeing a light @ the end of the tunnel. It also encourages most to be vaccinated for a clear shot towards good health and wealth too (the CEOs and investors).

Everyone is saying good things but with a caution mention. It's important to be cautious and realistic, I think. IMHO, YMMV, ALL THAT JAZZ

https://globalnews.ca/news/7450985/p...ution-experts/

When approved by the world medicine authorities of sciences (FDA, CDC, WHO & all) it should build more confidence with solid stats.
That's where my eyes are right now, while wearing a mask everywhere I go. Because @ 500,000+ new cases a day globally, and approaching 10,000+ mortalities a day globally; actually we have reached that threshold according to Johns Hopkins University ⚕ Medicine (JHU),...this winter wave coming up for Christmas and New Year's Eve 2021... is what it is, with severability.

Pfizer's Coronavirus Vaccine Data Is Better Than Meets the Eye

Quote:
Phase 3 trial results

Pfizer and BioNTech announced interim results from their phase 3 trial on Nov. 9. The global phase 3 trial involved 43,538 participants whose geographical location put them at high risk of acquiring COVID-19. During the study, participants were assigned to receive either two doses of BNT162b2 or a placebo. After enough members of the trial became infected with the virus, researchers compared the rate of COVID-19 infection between the groups.

The trial's first interim analysis indicates that after 94 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the overall study, the vaccine was at least 90% effective in preventing a viral infection 28 days after initiating the two-dose schedule. In other words, the overwhelming majority of confirmed illnesses came from the placebo group. No serious safety issues were reported. The two companies are waiting for until at least the third week of November for safety data before requesting an emergency use authorization (EUA) from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

They've been saying for months that masks protect both the wearer and those who you come into contact with. People just don't listen, and sadly, many articles do continue to spread misinformation by saying the masks protect others, not you, which is false.

Not intentionally. My bad. I said they only tested 94 people and it was 90% effective at preventing symptoms. That article says that out of 94 confirmed cases in the study it was 90% effective in preventing viral infection.

I was paraphrasing what I read earlier and I was close!

There are articles from highly respectable sources asking those very same questions.
Would you like me to PM you some of them; they are in regards to the well being of humans (us) and they are more than fair health questions.

But first let me do my best from them readings ...

a) With time we should learn more.

b) I don't know if anyone knows.

c) Nobody knows that yet, obviously.

d) Minus 94° Fahrenheit (ultra freezing cold), and not minus 80° F.
That's a big problem because many places aren't equipped for that.

indeed
I’m excited with regards to the Pfizer vaccine news obviously as a tool for fighting COVID-19, but also importantly and arguably, revolutionary is that the mRNA platform (upon which the Pfizer vaccine is based) can be relatively rapidly tweaked (as compared to other vaccine technologies) to help in developing future vaccines for other illnesses including pathogens causing future pandemics – https://qz.com/1931193/pfizers-covid...e-of-vaccines/

Bottom Line: once you have developed the superstructure for the RNA, you can splice in a new gene be it for defense against HIV, Zika, etc. The sobering part of the recent vaccine news for me is meantime thinking about how many more folks will needlessly suffer and die because of, for one thing, complacency or dismissiveness of the seriousness of this pandemic by people not adhering to public health guidelines until highly efficacious vaccines and therapies become widely available.

agreed, not even considering the case for the potential of death, the British Medical Journal estimates post-acute COVID-19 at 10% - https://www.bmj.com/content/370/bmj.m3026

That's great news to hear about the vaccine being at least 90% effective. I don't want to say anything too soon or unnecessary but could it be described as the perfect vaccine to get rid of this virus? The numbers that are coming from these trials need to seen by the public if this is correct.

I have read some more news on Covid restrictions have been announced tonight by the Governors of NY & NJ.

NY Governor Andrew Cuomo has said that restaurants, bars & gyms will have to close at 10pm each night with the measures coming into effect on Friday. Private gatherings of more than 10 people in NY State will also be banned. Mr Cuomo said that restricting capacity in restaurants at 25% across NY state may be necessary if Covid numbers continue to rise.

NJ Governor Phil Murphy has announced similar measures for bars & restaurants as they are required to halt indoor dining each night at 10pm.

They come into effect across the state of NJ from this Thursday.

my brother-in-law in the ICU at a University-affiliated hospital in Chicago has taken a downturn with evidence of multi-organ involvement -

hypoxemia despite HIGH vent settings
ejection fraction (cardiac) is in the mid-20s
BUN and Cr are increasing
prognosis is poor

Interesting visualization for covid. It does a pretty good job of showing covids lagging deaths.
