these really look fantastic. I knew the other ones was something fishy with and seems to have been manipulated to look bad if you look at these amazing screenshots

Nope.

You see all the garbage tv shows & movies out there....no wonder sports & reality tv is "winning."

Havent heard that winning thing in a while so figured i would get it in.

Breaking Bad, Mad Men, The Wire, The Shield, Dexter, Boardwalk Empire. All of these are garbage?

I'm sure you realize you are most likely in an extreme minority on that view, even among hard core Star Wars defenders.

In fact that is the first time I have ever heard a fan of the franchise describe it in that way.

To each their own.

He doesn't know what winning is; he's a Dallas Cowboys fan. They haven't won anything since the 90's. :P

Let's face it. Lucas watched Rise of the Planet of the Apes, and just had to stick a "No!" in there.

Just a shame a talking ape saying no has more of an emotional impact that Vader saving his sons life. But what ya gunna do

Yes, sometimes writers write bad stuff, sometimes writers write good stuff.

For what it's worth, I think that the best writers are working in TV rather than movies these days.

I'd love to see some 1080p or 720p screenshots of Darth Maul. Anyone else?

It plays on another level. When you first watch the OT (without knowing the PT) you think: "Is it true or is Vader lying? After all he is evil... And if it's true how will Luke cope with that?". If you watch the films in the correct order you think: "That's interesting - Vader opens up to Luke and recognizes him as his son. Does he really want Luke on the Dark Side with him or is there a possibility that his son - who may remind him of his love for Padme can redeem him?" ROTJ is much deeper with the prequels in mind because you can feel the struggle behind the mask...

Still, it seems like there's something missing.

If only there were some way we could be *sure* Anakin was struggling behind that mask.

Some cue, some...I don't...a groan...something...

I might just speak for myself. I might just speak for millions of Star Wars fans. But I'm more content with a mysterious, scary and badass Darth Vader than I am with a conflicted, deeper, emo Darth Vader.

The last thing I ever want my brain to compute while watching the OT is "oh well there's a grown up burnt to a crisp Hayden Christensen in there."

Stars Wars for me had a balance. and an important part of that balance was the small amount of balls it had with one of cinema's greatest villains ever.

I think it was Beast who called the Darth Vader is Luke's father reveal a M.Night-ish cheesy plot twist. Well if that were true, then the Prequels are the equivalent of 3 films explaining how Bruce Willis became a ghost.

Just stop. The issue is there for a few minutes. Adywan posted pages ago about. I have seen it myself.

But it's true! Even Luke and Palpatine wondered what was going on in Vader's mind.

I find it a little hard to believe that almost 25% of the people sticking their nose in this post are saying they will NOT buy Star Wars on BR.
