I never understood that part. There's a lot of stupid shit in the prequels but that one just sticks out like a sore thumb.
That entire duel is just ridiculous. I fast forwarded most of ROTS because I just cannot stand the prequels. Obes and Kins floating around on little things over lava never catching fire, but as soon as Walks gets within a few feet of lava when his legs and arms become one with the Force it's a down home BBQ, Kenobi style.

When the Jedi attempt to arrest Palapatune and the way he lunges toward the Jedi and they stand there as he slices them = facepalm

This is true, there had been a scientific study and it found that ESB is the greatest SW film ever. TPM being the worst and often considered the sister to the Holiday Special. Interesting trivia, TPM original title was The Phantom Holiday Mince Meat Menace Special. I think it's in the commentary track with Scott Baio, Bea Arthur, and Ralph McQuarie.

if you watch it slowly it didn't crash on his legs, the deck hits the ground first and just push him away by his S.

but I agree lots of s.s in the prequels. (tons of them)

I think old age is more plausible than anything because it's.... plausible. Everything else seems to be reaching for an explanation when none's needed. Vader's mostly machine and Obi-Wan's an old man.
I have never even heard that those injuries effected him, they obvioulsy did not in the episode III fight, but the only reason he won that fight was anakin's overconfidence. He got lucky.

Dooku, like Kenobi in ANH was an old geezer, but Dooku was just a complete badass, rules like that did not apply to him. He also was a sith, so.

It sure didn't look as if Old Ben had been practicing his saber technique in that hut of his.

Ben wasn't that old. In ROTS, he's what in his thirties? Oh yeah.. the desert made him look and act 80. Right!

The whole "no passion" argument is a safe haven for the OT die-hards. Hell, in the PT the passion was there even before the duel(s). Even Anakin's eyes said what took Vader a lengthy speech in the OT. I don't HATE the OT or even prefer one trilogy over the other. But the PT did have the advantage of better tech...

I still think it's a bit odd/funny that Anakin's lightsaber in IV looks nothing like it did in III.

the problem is Anakin's eyes said what a 12 year old boy who just had his 360 taken away by his parents would say...and his actual words were on the same level.

If Yoda, Obi-Wan and Anakin had been the Jedi to go with Windu, Palpatine would've been screwed. It makes sense to me that he overwhelmed those other Jedi quickly and left Mace alive, it set the stage for Anakin to finish being seduced by the Dark Side.

Obi-Wan's age isn't explicitly stated in any of the films, but many think he was about 21 at the time of "Phantom Menace". If that's true, then he'd be 34 by "Revenge of the Sith", and 54 in "A New Hope". Meanwhile, Alec Guinness turned 63 on April 2, 1977, about 6 weeks before the film's May 25 release.

He could have got rid of Kenobi very, very quickly, he did have to let Mace stay alive for Anakin.

yeah even Yoda says you aren't strong enough to face Palpatine towards the end. He couldn't even get a hit in on Grandpa Dooku. Palpatine would have slaughtered him.

TPM Obi-Wan is 25, Ewan was 26
AOTC (10 years later) Obi-Wan is 35, Ewan was 29
ROTS (3 years after AOTC) Obi-Wan is 38, Ewan was 32
ANH (19 years after ROTS) Obi-Wan is 57, Alec had just turned 62

Yoda could not get a hit on him either, after he already fought two jedi.

Bad acting, it was.

He hit him twice. In the beginning when he made Palpatines stunt double fly 20 feet backwards into his desk....and when he shot his own lightning back at him at the end of the fight.

Anakin should've slaughted him too, I don't care if Obi-Wan practiced with the kid or not, that shouldn't have closed the gap so much between their talent levels.

My point was that none of the films specify Obi-Wan's age, and Lucas has clearly stated that 20 years pass between Episodes III & IV. As for other characters, Anakin is described by Lucas as 9 in "Phantom Menace", which would make him 42 in "New Hope". The timeline for the OT is kinda sketchy, but I think I once read that "Empire" and "Jedi" were separated by a gap of 5 years. I don't know how long it was between the events of "New Hope" and "Empire", though.
