If JJ did it, that's fine. It would obviously be to just add some solid depth to the film like Jar-Jar did.

Well, the first two seasons were gold, but when they brought in Cousin Oliver, the magic was gone.

I love this thread, everyone is freaking hilarious! Love it!

Jar Jar fans, absolutely hysterical. At least I know how to get a good laugh at a party, just tell people how much I love Jar Jar. People believing that TPM is better than The Godfather, comedy gold my friends. I love it when people take their comedic bits to Andy Kaufman levels, to the point you think the person is insane, which makes it that much funnier.

Thank you, you know who you are.

Sounds like a pretty conservative and snobby party if you get laughed at just for having an own opinion that differs from the herd...

I bet all the Jar Jar lovers are imagining the full power of Jar Jar's tongue in action.

The problem with Jar Jar and PT apologists is that they confuse actual good writing and characters with the intended result of a self-admitted poor writer/director.

Uwe Boll makes plenty of movies that fit his vision. Does that mean they are good movies? No, they are terrible. That's why people criticize them.

If the vision is clouded with awful dialogue, bad characters, and boring plotting, then maybe it's not so grand?

edit - strange, my signature has been edited. Someone removed a quote I had from a certain poster who said ANH was the weakest of the saga.

I wonder what other objects Gorge found in his kitchen that almost became a character name;

Cup Cup
Bake Bake
Fork Fork
Pan Pan
Bowl Bowl (but I think this may have become see bowl buh or his lame attempt at rhyming with Boba)
Chair Chair
Rug Rug (Dig Dug) dug
Spoon Spoon
Door Door

He must have had a book a million pages long with all kinds of crazy character names.

Labels are meaningless. I like the Prequel Trilogy for what it is, but don't like Jar Jar. Am I a 'partial-apologist?' What are the criteria for good writing? Do they apply to everything? What are the criteria for good acting? Do they apply to everything? If something makes sense in context, then it probably fits. Would Jar Jar fit in Casablanca? Of course not. Would Jar Jar fit in the original Star Wars? I don't think so. Does he fit in Phantom Menace? I'm not all that keen on that particular movie, but given the context of the rest of the film- other digital characters and environments, he seems to make sense. Does THAT statement make me an apologist?

This kind of reasoning is one side of a coin whose other says George Lucas can do no wrong. Neither is honest logic, no matter how they couch their terms. The only blanket statement that is true is that all blanket statements are not entirely true.
