Yes cause he is the only one in Hollywood who just dare's doing stuff like that

Of course, but it represents only 23.22%. Because of a multiple choice poll, some of them could also vote for the prequels. That's my whole point, majority of our forum members wants the prequels, I'm not saying that they didn't want the unaltered original trilogy.

Got Math Blu-Ray.com?
That's because this is a multiple choice poll, some of the voters pick more than one. So each of their pick counts into the percentage of that choice from overall voters, which is 785 members (at the time of your post).

Take one choice, put it over total voters you'll get exactly what it shows up there. Don't sum up the percentage, it will simply exceed 100% unless everyone only pick one choice. Each choice represents a member's vote, if he pick another choice as well then it will be counted into that choice.

Come on, this is simple statistics.

Again my point is, no matter what other choice they pick, majority of them also wants the prequels.

That's what I will wait for, because it will happen. Lucas giving the excuse that to do a remaster of the originals is "very, very, expensive," just does not wash with his marketing history.

Besides, if remastering is so cost prohibitive, then how does Blu-ray even exist to begin with? Try again, Georgie.

He always says stuff like that. Always claims he'll 'never do X because of Y reason,' and he always does anyway. The creed is greed.

Thank you Chad. Yeah, Sideshow blew their wad on SDCC which is fine by me since I didn't have to wait any longer to preview their product. GG is coming out with some incredible SW stuff too. If only I was a millionare.... Agreed on the busts man! Fett is my #1 priority this year...it is shipping in less than a month.

Yeah, cause he clearly did that with them on DVD. Oh wait...

If he does, it'll be the same Laserdisc encodes that were on the DVD vversions.

It's cost prohibitive because he doesn't feel the original cuts deserve it.

And if all he cared about was greed, he would milk it a lot more than he does.

He also wouldn't spend his fortune on improving how movies are made. Or donating it to charity.

So it's an absurd "Anti-Lucas" standpoint to keep crying that it's due to greed.

What makes people think that the theatrical versions will sell better than the Special Editions?

The 04's boxset sales compared to the '06 releases says otherwise.

The fans that want the theatrical versions compared to the general public is very niche.

Without a reason of merit I think these will be priced close to the $200 mark. Lucas would be wise to release that info as early as possible. Lord only knows where the economy gonna be...

...Unless you're some unpaid charity volunteer, you're being a hypocrite. Don't criticize other people for making a living in the manner of their choosing. If people want Star Wars, and Lucas sells Star Wars, you must have very ugly thoughts to find fault with that.

I doubt day 1 each movie will be roughly 13.33 a piece. It should go for between 119.99 to 149.99. Thats my guess. Thats between 19.99 and 24.99 for each movie.

Indeed. One just has to look at comparable 20th Century Fox releases.

Planet Of The Apes - 5 Movies = $129.99 MSRP
Mel Brooks Collection - 9 Movies = $139.99 MSRP
Alien Anthology - 4 Movies (2 Bonus Discs) = $139.99 MSRP

Plus Star Wars stuff usually has high MSRPs. The 2004 OT DVD set was MSRP $70.00

Sure do. But I don't rebox it and try to sell it as something different. I don't make endless minor modifications to "improve" it and sell it over and over each time I do.

Don't lecture me, buddy. I watch my patients receive minimal to sometimes substandard services charged at an absolute sky-high premium, while the company I work for plays poverty each time I ask for a new material that would improve my care for them...all in the spirit of making mega-rich shareholders ultra-rich. Lucas is no different than any other corporation--don't even try to compare the honest, caring work I provide for a fair wage to his unadulterated idolization of the almighty dollar.

You sir are delusional.

Dude, it's about as milked as it could possibly ever be. I can't think of another franchise that has been exploited quite as much as his is.

Yes, he does put a lot back into filmmaking. By staying a step ahead, he ensures that ILM stays competitive (more money). But I will concede that he loves movie-making, so cash probably isn't his only motivator here.

Charities are a double-edged sword. I tend to respect the philanthropists that don't try to bring attention to their efforts. I'm sure he gives because he wants to, but I'm also sure the mega tax-breaks don't hurt, either.

Sure you do. Unless you have only worked one day in your life and accepted only one paycheck.

So you deal with patients. Which means you obviously don't treat each one of them exactly the same with no modifications to how you interact with them. Every patient that comes under your care is gonna need to be dealt with as an individual. If not, I hope I never have to deal with you. I don't want to be Faceless Patient #2930.

Very different. Lucas isn't providing a need or service. He's selling an Entertainment Product.

It's not a necessity for life. Even the most hardcore Star Wars fans can't claim they need to buy the movies in order to live. And if they did, I would suggest they get help. When it comes to something like movies, repackaging and refreshing the product every few years is important. It's how the retail market works, making the most of limited shelf space. Most stores can't keep every movie in stock, much less movies that were released years ago. Plus new customers are going to be available for the product and it needs to be refreshed at a retail standpoint in some manner for to get shelf space and buyer interest. That's how the market works.
Quote:

He's not the one who's declaring someone greedy for simply selling an Entertainment product.

Something that isn't a need or necessity for anyone to own. Much less buy multiple versions.

Yet you still work for that company? How exactly does that make you any better than the company you work for? If I worked for a company as unethical and borderline criminal as the one you describe I would have quit yesterday...
