Wow. Neither side is making themselves look particularly good in this thread. I guess I'll just leave my two cents and duck for cover:

As a 22-year-old who grew up on the Star Wars Special Edition, I want a quality Blu Ray release of the original theatrical cuts as much as anyone who saw Star Wars first in 1977. I'm fed up with George Lucas and his trolling ways. I just want to see my favorite sci-fi film trilogy treated with respect.

I'd say that the content fans have been more collected than the entitled fans since the entitled fans seem to be the ones talking about us thinking that critics are child molesters for not liking the prequels, saying that people who like the prequels have mental health conditions, and resorting to personal attacks and spamming. It's not like talk about the theatrical cuts even belong in this thread, I'd say they they should be in the wishlist section. That way those who enjoy these releases can talk about them without fear of being attacked and those who want to talk about the theatricals can post in the wishlist section. Even though I doubt that would eliminate all the fighting, I think it would decrease it by a bit.

Try having your favorite film(s) progressively degenerate with an accumulation of terrible revisionist "ideas" which get worse every seven years [1997, 2004, and 2011] and get stuck with your preferred version being restricted to at best a non-anamorphic DVD (with all of 270 lines worth of vertical resolution!) and see if you'd remain silent regarding the situation...

This. A hundred times, this.

I know lots of folks who don't like the prequels or George Lucas, or the Special Editions and want the UOT and don't resort to these tactics. It's not everybody. But it does exist here.

Edit: And I want the UOT. But, man, people who let themselves lose their ****, fly off the handle and call people 'sycophants' without thinking first... kinda glad I don't know ya.

And any wish list thread started will likely be merged directly into this one, so what's the point?

That said, if the mods feel this is the way to go, I for one will be happy to frequent an alternate thread... provided they are even-handed, and instist on separate threads for Last of the Mohicans, Dumb and Dumber, Apollo 13, THX-1138, American Graffiti, etc...

What about the fans that want the movie to look the best, with errors and glitches fixed? Where would they fit into this "discussion?"

Like I said, I feel that the 2004 Editions were the best versions of the Original Trilogy as a Saga.

There were just so many technical things wrong with the Films.

The Prequels also suffered on DVD as well as Blu-Ray.

I just want a great looking set!

I still refuse to to buy them until they ALL get a proper restoration, Colour Grading, Error Fixed release!

I posted the following in the Feedback Forum today and it stands. Please be considerate in your postings. Do not spam this thread with the same "G.L. Sucks!" or "G.L. is God" mentality. This thread is for all of the members...

Make your point and move on. Do not make the same post over and over, do not bait others, do not insult others, discuss and do not argue...ect.

I'll look over the thread and I will look for trolling and post whoring there. People posting multiple times a day will start receiving "cooling off" suspensions. People reporting posts that they do not agree with will start getting short suspensions.

Basically the will be brought under control. If members are posting there more than ONCE a day, they are posting too much. If members are posting the SAME thing every day, they are posting too much. The thread will NOT be hijacked by a few members. That is all.

He directed a total of 6 films in his career.
And only half of them are good.

Oh yeah, he really took advantage of being an 'independent filmmaker'

Or, and I've suggested this before, why not have a positive/negative thread? A rant/rave thread?
Star Wars would be the perfect demo device to try this out. Afterall what would you have to lose, at this point?
Folks that don't like what has happened with the films can rant in one thread, and folks who like what has happened can rave in the other thread. Never the two shall meet.
You could try it for a month and see what happens, kind of like a beta test.
Just an idea.

I love discussing Star Wars, whether it's good, bad or ugly, but reasoned discourse isn't available anywhere it seems. TFN is incredibly pro-SW and, dare I say it, too nerdy even for me, whereas pretty much every other 'normal' forum that I frequent devolves into the same Lucas hate time and time again.
