After watching the despecialized editions a few times, I do wish they would combine the old and new for the ultimate OT set. Keep all original footage and sounds but enhance/remaster it all, and fix the Lightsaber special effect glitches in ANH.

If you have a Fed-Ex/Kinkos self-service story in your area you can print them there, but you have to bring your own paper. Also there is a member here who will print high quality covers for a price, I believe.

I'm really torn on customs though. I have a large folder of them saved on my PC and I even talked to Nissen about paying him to make some, but I still have this itch in the back of my head that says "these aren't official" when I use them. So I dunno!

It's not up to Fox. The call to release is made by Disney, then they get on the Fox and talk to Fox about distribution. Again, I know there's no real debate, as I've been doing what everyone else is doing: Speculating.

They just made an announcement at an action figure site, Jedi News, that there will be some box sets of figures for each episode coming. The name on the sets are Hasbro Digital Release Boxed Sets. So looks like an announcement of at least digital versions is on the horizon.

Does anyone know where I can buy ROTS on blu-ray by itself? I know its not been officially released as a stand alone but surely someone or some site out their is selling these movies separately.

Ebay might be an option, but just curious why you want to purchase it separately?

Can you imagine the uproar if they release the original cuts on digital only?

Best bet is Ebay .... disc only, about $15 shipped. Just looked.

Edit: Looks like HeavyHitter already stepped up.

For starters let's state that this has come from a very reliable source and been checked (as far as we can) but it should be taken with a pinch of salt until we hear the news officially.

Now onto the news - want to get an idea of what Hasbro have planned for the digital releases of the original films, what products LEGO have got slated for release for the rest of the year (along with UK pricing) or how about the street date for The Force Awakens merchandise, well then read on and we'll share all?

Exactly. "Original films" are simply Episodes 1-6. We are officially in 2015. There will be a new Star Wars film out before December 31. A "movie year" as they call it in the licensing/merchandising business.

If that report is legitimate it actually doesn't bode well for an UOT release in 2015 as far as I'm concerned. It seems like they're selling the same old thing to a new group of people (mobile/tablet viewers) which in all honesty would probably bring in more money than an UOT release and would better support the release of the new movie without overshadowing it in any way.

If they're smart they'll wait until a few years in (a non-movie-year would be ideal but there probably won't be one again any time soon, if ever) and release it when the hype has subsided. To actually be a viable product the UOT needs to be given focused and careful marketing. People need to be educated about it. For every person passionately posting about the altered versions online there are 20 who don't know or care about the changes.

Release the UOT this year and it is completely and utterly overwhelmed and overshadowed by TFA and Rebels and the Marvel comic and Battlefront and all the action figures and LEGO sets.

I'm sure the success of an UOT set doesn't matter to most people reading this thread as long as it's available to them but I assure you all it definitely matters to Fox and Disney.

Well said!
We keep discussing trilogies. The possibility exists that Disney might issue single releases of all 6 films, since there are no single versions out there, on BD.(at least not that I know of)
Again, I'd be very surprised if these included the unaltered versions of the first three films. Of course who knows at this stage of the game!

Can someone here point me to an article or website that states which studio owns which star wars rights with regards to the films?

Default Star Wars: The Complete Saga, Original & Prequel Trilogy - Sept 16, 2011 - Re...

Fox owns the original film outright. LucasFilm owns the rest but before the Disney acquisition they had given Fox the theatrical and video rights to them in a deal that won't expire for 20-some years.
