That's a tough one. Often times if there are a lot of digital effects the whole thing is produced as a 2k DI and then upscaled.


It's also possible that they upscaled ONLY the effects shots and left everything else as native 4k. The 4k home video version of "The Martian" was produced that way.

Total noob here, but I think Blue Velvet should be added to this list.

Blue Velvet (The Criterion Collection) [4K UHD]

"As noted in the “About the Transfer” section of the booklet, Blue Velvet arrives onto the 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray format in the 2:35:1 aspect ratio (its original aspect ratio was 2:39:1). Lynch supervised and approved the 4K restoration, which was created from the 35mm A/B original camera negative. The 4K Ultra HD Blu-Ray disc presents the film in Dolby Vision high dynamic range (HDR)."

If I'm wrong and I'm ignorant about some of the qualifications for this list (quite possible), feel free to delete this post.

I'll wait for confirmation. Disney does tend to do 2K upconverts for their Marvel titles.

Not sure how this would differ from The Martian.
