As far as I know, X2 did not get that DI.

really sad that Downton Abbey, Last Christmas, Blinded By The Light (not 100% sure this one is 4k DI but I can say the blu-ray def deosn't show the details in the shirt fabrics and such as it did in theaters where you could make out fabric weave threads), Little Women can't make this list, all 4k DI that looked MUCH sharper in the theater than on blu-ray disc (well can't compare for Little Women yet; also I refused to pay for the others on blu knwoing the theatrical masters were so much better, other than for Blinded which I was suckered into originally afraid it would even be DVD only, and watched copies others had) and Abbey had some the best use of HDR I've seen in a Dolby Cinema and Last Christmas simply would have been THE reference UHD for pic quality (seemed even more detailed than Passengers! and had some richer color at times).
So not only did they stick like most of the recent 4k DI on blu-ray only!!! They stuck two that might have been among the best or even THE best of their kind (Abbey for highyl effective and natural use of HDR and Last Christmas for insane, crisp detail combined with even richer colors at times than Passengers). grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr |

I’m pretty sure the first two X-Men films had photochemical finishes. And then likely the master IP was given a 4K scan for the UHD release, so it’s considered a full 4K release even if it never had a DI in the way that almost all movies do now.

IP? Nope. OG negative, as pretty much the only major studio movies newly transferred from interpositive in recent 4K times are the Nolans.

Here is a partial quote from the Blu-Ray review on this site: ". . . the results are for the most part spectacular, at least within the confines of series television. This is one of the lushest looking television series to come down the pike in quite a while, and the Blu-ray for the most part offers a sharp, extremely well detailed image that is almost entirely free of artifacting. Colors are gorgeously robust and well saturated, shadow detail is for the most part exceptional, and the image is wonderfully clear and precise. There is some minor crush in the very darkest interior scenes, as well as a couple of nighttime sequences, and once or twice some very minor aliasing crops up, but it's extremely transitory. What works best here is the eye popping production and costume design, which pops brilliantly on this Blu-ray presentation. The incredibly ornate ambience of Downton Abbey (really Highclere Castle) is caught in all its splendor and fine detail reveals even the smallest patterns on the opulent furnishings. Similarly the many different patterns and materials of the costumes, especially the aristocratic women, are fully on display and are amazing." |
