Depends on the movie really, but some people are infatuated with 4K DI, and I find the list useful even though it does not drive my purchase. UHD is so close to 1080p in pricing now. Turtles is a 2K DI and it looks outstanding according to reviews, I plan on watching tonight. People forget that 3D conversions can look real good, so why not think a 2K DI scaled to 4K and put on a disc with better compression cant look better than the Blu? As far as Martian, I read all the debate and the studio statement, and I agree with listing it. |

Can someone who hasn't seen an x men since it first came out years and years ago just enjoy this movie. Or do I need to get caught up on the like 10 other films first?

The only ones you would have to watch are First Class and Days of Future Past,in that order

If you work with 2k to 4k, you are "adding info" and it won't look as good as if you had a higher source! |

From what I understand, 2K to 4K looks near regularHD bluray quality, and in some cases even worst due to heavy film grain

Same thing happened with 2D to 3D conversion, granted early conversions were not that good, but now they are excellent. I have watched many UHD discs at this point, some 2K DI, and enjoyed them all. Too many personal agenda's cloud what is actually going on. TMNT 2 was a 2K DI, and looked outstanding. Shots were razor sharp with pop, inky blacks. Same with Now You See Me 2. To me, the native 2160p discs just has a different "look" than a native 1080p disc, and that is all I am buying now. In the rare case of no UHD, I am still getting 3D, like Jungle Book and Alice in Wonderland 2. Especially when you consider the UHD discs are now only $4-5 more than a blu-ray, and you get the blu-ray too... |
