Are there any movies of that particular genre and era in real 4K UHD?

The documentary Florence and the Uffizi Gallery 3D/4K is finished at 4K. (Though this documentary is not only terrible, also the 3D in this film is a joke, with lots of terrible converted parts and awfully photographed native 3D parts...)

Nope. Edge of Tomorrow is another title I'd love to have on disc that isn't out. Since they're making a sequel they'll probably issue it when it comes out. No idea if they're going to do American Sniper since they've already double dipped on it.

VuDu offers American Sniper in UHD/Dolby Vision...Can't be any worse than standard bluray, I would guess?

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 isn't finished in 4K? Why did they use those 8K cameras when making it then?

Because the camera offers the performance and the aesthetics that they're aiming for.

Michael Bay shot Transformers The Last Knight with the Arri Alexa IMAX, in 6K resolution per eye (in 3D), but the DI and the finish is in 2K. But it's the look and feel of a digital IMAX camera and lens that he's trying to achieve.

Cameras is not always about resolution.

Source? All of the info online indicates 4k DI. Apparently IMDB misprinted it as 2k and have fixed the error.

Actually it may have 4K DI as all YouTube trailers are in 4K, but only has 2K DCPs for digital cinemas. (due to 3D I guess?) Not sure if they use 4K in IMAX Laser cinemas though.

Or it could have been 2K DI and upscaled to 4K for trailers. I think Pieter V said it's 2K in Dolby Cinemas too. (help?)

Either way, these big budget movies with thousands of visual effects and very short production timeline usually relegate the DI to 2K.

I believe time is a very big factor whether a movie gets a 2K or 4K finish. GOTG2 and TF5's production and post production was around 13 to 14 months before release. And rendering all that visual effects can take an extremely long time.

Yes, because it was in Dolby Cinema 3D.

Just to be clear, is Dolby Vision 3D in Dolby Cinema definitely 2K?

All the 3D titles were 2K so far.

Would you happen to know if Dolby Cinema uses the same DCP as regular cinemas, or do they have their own proprietary stuff, like IMAX?

No idea. But I do think they have a closed system.
