Heavy, I have no idea as it is another studio's production rather than from Columbia/Sony. That tidbit was simply passed onto me during hallway chatter between meetings in Vancouver.

If you are a Heavy hitter in one of the literal senses of the word, then you may appreciate this

Otherwise, some food for thought –

Growing up in the DC area, we were bombarded by Jhoon Rhee's Tae Kwon Do
Well you nailed it!

Of whom ^ I’m proud to say in my youngin’ days I was a student of this great Grand Master (http://www.jhoonrhee.com/bio.html ) at his facility in Washington, D.C. on Connecticut Avenue back in the day…..before I tore my ACL playing soccer in high school (alas only making it to ‘brown’).

Many notables attended his tournaments….and gave demonstrations. Who is that little dude with the fast hands in black? You don't have to be an 'expert' to know....just a movie fan.

hah!

I’m lucky there are few if any golfers here. Just goes to show where my mind is in these days of green….archival HD masters, dupe HD masters, broadcast masters, digital negatives used as masters for DCP’s, etc.

May I ask what specific condition (the medical name) affects your wife?
I don't think it really has one. She was born with the impairment and underwent multiple surgeries as a child. Not sure exactly for what, they're not really conversations that she wants to dwell on, understandably. I got the impression that they think it might have been a medicine induced complication, but there's no real way to know for sure. As far as day-to-day implications, she has glaucoma, which means pressure balancing is a constant issue, especially for her left eye, which still has some vision. For her right eye, it's strictly light vs. dark perception, but even that has changed significantly since I've known her. About 10 years ago, there was some sort of hemorrhage that significantly altered even that perception.

Honestly, I never even notice the limitation any more, except when I'm out with a group that doesn't include her. About a half hour in, they ask why I'm reading signs to the group all the time. I think at work it's a different story. She's an occupational therapist and the rehab director for a senior community and apparently doctors (of all people) are always making inappropriate comments about how she should look into glasses, etc.

Obviously, she and others like her are a small sample and progress can't be stopped or limited to accommodate them. I was just hoping there would be some sort of transparent (in all senses of the word) way for her to see a 3D movie without having to put on a pair of glasses that darken the screen and magnify her difficulties - hence my Disney World 3D question. It may not make something 3D for me, but it might block out the alternate image for her.

I saw your response to that. It sounds like the best solution might be to have someone procure me a pair so we can try it to see. :-)

Actually, my user name stems from a bodybuilding-resistance training system I use from a former bodybuilder/trainer acquaintance of mine named Mike Mentzer (who competed against Arnold at the 1980 Mr. Olympia). His training philosophy centered around very intense workouts that were brief and infrequent (1-3 days per week, 20-30 minutes) in nature compared to the typical long duration style of training (6 days per week, 1-3 hours per day). The system is called Heavy Duty and is also sometimes refered to as High-Intensity Training (or HIT). Hence, my name, HeavyHitter.

Any comment on this article? Personally I would not like to see this happen, since Sony Pictures provides a lot of content which is directly usable by Sony.

Ten Brands That Will Disappear in 2012

...
1. Sony Pictures

Sony has a studio production arm which has nothing to do with its core businesses of consumer electronics and gaming. Sony bought what was Columbia Tri-Star Picture in 1989 for $3.4 billion. ....

Yup, depending on how the projector is designed, 3D can at least as bright as 2D without using two projectors. Much better colors and contrast too.

Hope it doesn't take 5 years...

Heh, wish I could pick your brain on this one Penton-Man.

I hope that doesn’t translate into everyone at once, next week, all applying en masse to take that vacation time which they’ve accrued…..before they lose it and the company is sold or “disappears”.

Seriously, since the author(s) state that “Each of the ten will be gone, based on our definitions, within 18 months” why don’t we just bookmark this prediction and revisit it in 18 months as it applies to Sony Pictures Entertainment?

Obviously, I disagree with the prediction.

No need to bookmark anything. Do a bit of research on how he felt about Youtube not too long ago

Have a good weekend.

A personal recommendation (if you can find it locally, as it has a limited release) –

Who cares, man? It's about the envelope and how far it's being pushed!

This movie isn't just 3D. It's more 3Der.

I think the story will be too busy suffering at the expense of an hyper-accellerated timeline and the low standard set by the previous films. There won't be any focus left for 3D zealotry to distract. Really, you'd have to convince Bay to give a crap about the story, in the first place- a task I would put beyond the capability of any man.

Well...you could be right; but, I'm going anyway just in case we're wrong. I'm willing to give the guy a lotta slack on the story line but on the 3D side of it...it better blow my socks off.
