The theatrical version is an unholy mess of a film. The editing of the battle sequences was terrible and there seemed to be a bunch of important scenes that were cut out, namely in the last 20 minutes or so. Hopefully the director's cut fixes most of my gripes with the film.

Love the cover art and it looks like a flip open case which will be cool.

Hopefully the price will drop a bit from the current $25.99. How much longer is the extended cut supposed to be?

Yeah, so was the theatrical cut of Kingdom of Heaven. I hope that the director's cut of Robin Hood is as much of an improvement as Kingdom of Heaven's directors cut.

Same here...I'm going to watch the Director's Cut. Longer, and more blood..should be good!

Ah, nice. That's encouraging. I know there are a few movies out there with director's cuts featuring approximately the same amount of additional footage that are miles better than the theatrical cut. Plus, I've loved all the extended versions of Scott's movies that I've seen so far.

Only thing I've ever hated from a Ridley extended or director's cut was the crappy new ending to American Gangster. It was so great with Frank just standing there on the street. Shouldn't have been extended.

Looking forward to this new cut of Robin Hood, though. Hopefully it helps some of the pacing in act II, which dragged a little.

Unhappy Caution on the blind buy

Movie taste is a very subjective thing, but I have to say I was disapointed by Robin Hood. And I had low expectations going in. It was filled with one dimensional characters and the action seems seemed contrived/uninispired.

I'm excited to see the extra footage. I haven't seen this since opening night at the theaters, which was about 4 months ago. I'm looking forward to seeing it again and being able to dive into the extras that Universal is bound to slap on this release. Robin Hood is one of those movies that I could really enjoy watching over and over at home.

It's now $22.99 on Amazon, and it also appeared in my Gold Box today, so I pre-ordered for $21.84.

That's getting better, but I am still hoping for it to drop below $20 before release before I decide to get it.

I'm stunned this dropped to $22.99. Lately, Universal's first week prices on new releases have been mostly at $25.99 and $26.99.

No kidding. The price drop was enough to get me to order this one up front instead of waiting half a year for the price to really drop. Looking forward to finally watching this one.
