The room was also too bright to take those measurements. People rely too much on metrics as well. What really matters is how a product performs as a unit and not a few measurements. I see a lot if product and no flat panel I have seen touches the 84" 4K Sony in the situation I saw it.

I have not worked on the new Samsung or Panasonic. I suspect they will each have their flaws. What someone prefers will vary.
Oh i know OLED is still very new and has not been out long enough for it to be a stable technology with all the issues it currently has. I'm hoping in the future those problems will be fixed as i only see OLED and as real successor to plasma (what happened to FED?). My plasma to be more specific. These new displays coming out this year won't offer a large enough improvement worth looking at besides size. And i'm fine with 60" at 8' in my 1500cuft media room. If i were to move and had more space for more TV's, that's a different story.

Steedeel, I think nobody bit because they don’t know you and in the back of some peoples’ minds, streaming is a very real scenario for future movie watchers. Anyway, the *streaming giant* -

Sorry for originally misspelling your handle above ….at least I got the Sunderland player half correct , as I’ve always considered myself to be at least minimally internationally astute.

^In the last paragraph, regarding the linked Hollywood Reporter article and the information therein, namely…. 14 ‘foot Lamberts’. Well, that is a unit of luminance in U.S.

Since this is an international forum, for the international standard used in the rest of the world, that translates to 48 cd/m². Don’t say I never think about our members outside the U.S.

Bummer. Flatnote and others take note.

This serves as a Correction to all the previous post(s) on this and other threads that I may have made about the DI of Oblivion.

I’ve just been informed by Inside sources that the IMDB Technical specs as listed are not right, namely “Digital Intermediate (4K) (master format)”…. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1483013/...ef_=tt_dt_spec

Apparently, the film received a 2K DI and will be released in 2K. From the get-go, the Director, Joseph Kosinski strongly desired a 4K DI and release, but that just didn’t come to fruition primarily because of the additional time (about 2 months) and expense (BIG) which would have been needed for all the VFX work to have been done in 4K.

Anyway, my colleagues occasionally email me imagery material like that. In that particular instance, it was a joke and I think I was “supposed” to feel like I was outside enjoying a clear cloudless night, when the reality was that they knew I was stuck in an office surrounded by four walls and a ceiling.

The same person also sent me this….http://www.ritsumei.ac.jp/~akitaoka/index-e.html

Warning [and this is no April Fools joke, for that matter, nothing I post today is]
Some categories like for instance Movie Illusion 10, etc. could possibly induce harmful side effects like dizziness and even seizures in some highly susceptible individuals. If you start feeling unwell when viewing some of the images in the above website, immediately cover one eye with your hand and then leave the page. Do not close both your eyes because that could make the symptoms worse.
When i put the mouse towards the middle of the screen some stars disappear. Any other place i can see all of them.

Looking at the images in that other link for too long causes a weird stress sensation in my eyes.

I’ll be there….although weary of all hotel rooms and especially sensitized to always remembering to place the “Do Not Disturb” sign on the handle… http://www.usatoday.com/media/cinematic/video/2019057/

I’m especially curious to discover if there is some ‘beef’ to what the man-in-charge at RED has recently prophesized to the faithful…”NAB 2013 will be historic. Mark my words....” < Well Jim, I'm marking them by bolding them.

Namely, will the REDRAY player finally ship????

Well that is a bummer, hopefully something comes along this summer yet where I can get my 4k fix.

Crap. I was really looking forward to that too. You'd think that the studios would be more forward looking as the value of the movie will be more limited when 4k content starts to be more in demand.

At the least you think they could have had FX shots at 2k and all other footage scanned in at 4k...

Well, given the resolution (watered down from the original source of 2048 × 1680 × 12 bits), you’re probably not going to get your fix on this either ( for context… https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...er#post6877131 )

But, since I’m in the picture posting mood on this page, this is another pic which I’ve owed folks for awhile (i.e. my left little finger the day after we were compelled to put our beloved dog to sleep and to this day I still haven’t regained full range of motion, plus its now chubbier than the right little finger which I guess will serve as a permanent reminder of the loss of our loved one and I’m o.k. with that because I think it is a more noble badge of remembrance rather than something like a tat, which anyone can get by simply walking into a store and paying a few bucks to get their skin inked).

I notice some companies are already coming out with ‘Visit our Booth’ adverts for their 4K displays, in this case a 30 incher…http://naob.informz.net/naob/archive...e_3110346.html
