I agree, also it would have been nice if the video on YouTube was in HDR.

The Google Chrome browser has the ability to display HDR content on a HDR monitor and this video was not in HDR.

Worse, over 99% of YouTube's videos which have "HDR" in their titles are not HDR. I think it's a travesty.

?!?!

I guess Tarantino is just all about dat theatrical experience when it comes to the proper way of watching a film. Something he shares with many other directors. No lowly discs, here!

Also, "Black-ray" reminded me of this:

Don't ask me, I'm still wondering where a bunch of Golden Globe related posts on this page went?

I don’t see it that way.

There is some value to Dolby Vision IQ as it brings more versatility to those non-videophilic general audiences who are either unknowingly watching/or prefer to watch Dolby Vision content in less than ideal viewing conditions (for example, taking into consideration the ambient light by alternative PQ mapping functions (PQ’) ensures that details in the dark areas of the image do not become uniformly black when the scene is viewed in a brighter environment) and conversely, if experienced videophiles such as yourself are viewing in an environment that duplicates that of the mastering suite, then not to worry, you won’t be losing anything.

It’s one of the great mysteries to me, although I had no idea what the heck Geoff and Scottishguy were talking about with their colloquialisms.

Well, as an alternative I guess I can always post examples of PQ curves/code words computed at various levels of ambient light ranging from 0.1 to 600 nits, for a 12-bit input to bore everyone to death.

Or Maverick is fine; I always enjoy your expertise input on the sets of Top Gun II
Tom is a fine young looking actor, I also like Bruce Lee, Chuck Norris, the Golden Globe Awards with Ricky Gervais, the Red Carpet, the Hollywood elite, all the fun educational stuff including HDR.

Well, we got Jimmy Kimmel to give it a shout out yesterday at the beginning of his monologue ….

Next, we’ve got to get Top Gun: Maverick into one of these Ultra HD Forum surveys, or else into the Super Bowl somehow -

Yes, (120/60 HFR profile which would work with current 60fps TVs) is a potential solution for future deployment. Namely, a backward compatibility mechanism (introduced by the DVD - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digita...o_Broadcasting ) which enables 50/60 fps decoders to render a 50/60 fps version of the content while 100/120 fps decoders render the full HFR experience from the single HFR stream (with dual PIDs) coming into consumer TVs at home.

afaik ATSC 3.0 also offers temporal sub-layering for backward compatibility to a frame rate half (50/60) of the HFR (100/120).

I never scrolled past the Best home theater product category as I was too busy communicating with the ownership of the forum regarding a situation that had gotten out of hand.

I see it now

P.S.
Augmented reality glasses for another good purpose - https://keck.usc.edu/augmented-reali...r-environment/
(the paper published in the peer reviewed journal Scientific Reports, co-authors from Stanford and USC).

Oops. What'd I do now? I swear it wasn't my fault. Geoff over served me. Kept feeding me pint after pint, then brought out the haggis. I said no. No! No, haggis. Everything is a blur after that.
