Just watched my Blu-ray of this movie yesterday and was reminded of how underrated the transfer is. Looks really good.

What's great with these double dips (4th so far of a Blu-ray I already own) is that unless I consider the movie as one of my very favorites, which hasn't happened yet, I don't need to upgrade as fast as possible and can easily just wait until the price is low enough that it along with the previous version won't add up to more expensive than buying the new one on release date.

I'm happy and all that they're going all out for this new blu ray of T2, but when is the original movie going to recieve a new blu ray edition?, y'know, one that has an AVC encode, 50 GB disc, and most importantly, actually feature the original mono track?

Er, in response to your question, this been posted already many times, T1 is currently being redone by Lowry from the original negative - will of course include the mono mix.

if its true then I deffo will not be buying it.
Might just stick with my jap steel as the UK steel for the movie on its on dont look that good with that CG skull artwork. So will probs just buy it when its in a normal case and cheaper.

I apologize for not reading each of the 10+ pages before this; but is this T2 version going to have discernibly better picture (and audio) quality than the standard Blu version I currently have? If so, I'd think about buying the Skynet version, but the other one is not something that really interests me too much.

That seals it. I just canceled my pre order then. I already have this on HD DVD (French, UK and German) plus the Japanese BD. I'll hold off and save up to buy a metal one on eBay at some point.

it will be a new transfer, but it isn't going to look THAT much better than the current blu. a lot of people are expecting reference quality and sorry, it's just not going to cross that line. but it will look better

Based on the movie's budget? It was the first $100M budget....

It's based on the same HD master as the original Blu-ray but with some debris reduction and a new AVC encode, so it will look similar.
